ACOG TA31F Score!! > Optics, Mounts, and Sights

My fellow Marine buddy called my today and said he had a NIB Trijicon TA31F that he didn't want anymore. He was selling it for it $700. I wasn't intending on buying one of these yet, but I couldn't let this opportunity pass me by even though I wasn't sure about which ACOG model this is. I am just now doing some research on what I bought.

Does anyone have any good or bad feedback with this type of optic? I am going to mount it to one of my flat top 5.56 M4's. Any mounting advice? Looks like this optic is made for 5.56. Would it work with a 6.8 M4 also?

Nice score, I suggest the LaRue ACOG RCO mount to get acceptable eye relief.

yes frenzy, that is a good price , the lowest i got was 967.00.

The short eye relief takes some getting use to and shooting at close range takes some practice but overall it's a great optic. I'm getting better at shooting with it.It's been great at 50m plus.

. I have an Eotech on a DPMS AP4. I'm thinking of putting the acog on my new 6920.Sorry to go off topic, but what would you guys do? Which would you rather have on your "go to rifle"? Obviously the 6920 will be the go to

lear60pilot: The answer to your question is, yes it will work on an AR chambered for 6.8 SPC. The ideal situation would be to get the TA31F with the BDC calibrated for 308, however, if you shoot 90 gr. loadings in 6.8 SPC the BDC is very close. That is what I do with my 6.8. I would have gotten a TA31F calibrated for 308 but someone wanted to trade me a 5.56 calibrated TA31F for my Aimpoint ML2 with 3x magnifier. I thought it was an excellent deal (only paid $750 for the Aimpoint and magnifier) so I jumped on it.

MadDogDan: Thanks....I will try it out on 5.56 first and them maybe move it over to my 6.8 at some point and see how it works. I reload, so by that time I will be all set up to punch out some 6.8 90 grainers. Do you reload? if so where do you get your bulltets for 6.8?
