I'm looking into getting a scope for medium-long range shooting. I had seen the Trijicon Accupoints and thought they were pretty cool, but I see everybody using Leupold scopes, so I thought they must be a better choice. Then I was reading on here a couple people were saying that Trijicon had better optics than Leupold...? Is this true? I was looking on the LaRue site, and they had the Accupoints for $800, and Leupold Mk 4 for $1-1.5k... If Trijicons have better optics, then what's the deal? And if Trijicons are so good, and cheaper, then why is everyone using Leupolds?

The only other scope I have ever owned is a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14 on my 700, so I would appreciate some input from someone that has used some higher end optics.

Thanks for any input!

I would guess it is because most of the Trijicon reticles are not setup for precision shooting.

IMHO the Trijicons have the best glass until you get North of $1K

OK. I'm planning on getting the mildot one, do you think that would be good? I can understand a triangle not being good for long distances, but a mildot reticule is a mildot reticule. The only bad thing might be the glowing dot in the middle. Does this affect aiming at small objects badly?
