I recently purchased a Aimpoint M3.  The instruction book states that it has 10 settings.  CompM3: 10 positions: 4 NVD, 6 daylight of which 1 Extra Bright.  If I turn it all the way counter clockwise to all the way clockwise, I only get 9 clicks.  Is the off setting (all the way counter clockwise) actually the lowest NVD setting.

EDIT:  I think I answered my own question:  10 positions would mean the "Off" position is still NVD.

Correct. There is no "off" position on the Comp M3.
And it's not needed either, because when storing, you just turn the dial down to "0" and the battery will still last for years since that's the lowest of the NV settings.

I sort of regret buying the M3 because I did so "just in case" I ever might play around with NV. But it's not likely that I ever will so the lowest 4 positions are lost on me.

I was going to get the M3L for my second carbine, but even though I like the M3 a lot, I've decided to save some pocket change and go with a Zoom Dot instead.
