Quick Detach Scope Mount > Optics, Mounts, and Sights

Is there such an animal? I'm getting a DPMS LR-308 AP4 that I want to mount a scope on. I plan to replace the rear sight with a flip rear and was wondering if there is a mount that makes it easy to quickly remove the scope? By quickly I just mean easily and without tools. Then I can just flip up the rear site and be back in action with the irons. Eventually I'll switch to a flip front gas block as well. The standard front site is OK to use with a scope though isn't it?

there is such a thing. i have the dpms L16 with the front sight and i have a quick attach mount for my scope. My quick detach actually came with my ar. It is a tapco it seems to hold up really well.

got a picatinny rail on the top? if so, they don't get any better than these LaRue Tactical

It has an A3 flattop. I've seen the LaRue on several pics here.

I can't seem to find the Tapco one on their site. Do you have a model or picture you can post?

depending on the optic you're planning to use, American Defense Mounts, ARMS, GG&G, and LaRue all make mounts that might work for. you. My preference would fall towards ADM or GG&G.

Thanks. I'll look into those as well. I haven't done much shooting with a scope so I think I'm going to start with a less expensive scope to start with. Then I can move it over to my sons 10/22 when I can afford the jump up. I could end up with a scope that costs half as much as the mount

...to start with.

Unless I'm not finding them all it looks like for high power rifle scopes LaRue or ADM are the best bets. LaRue comes with rings to that might make them the winner Thanks for all the help..
