Been pouring through the mountains of information, and so i hope some here can maybe help a bit. Looking for a $200-$250 1-4x scope.
Looked at millett dms, kinda like it. Looking for as short as possible of course. Anyone have any suggestions? Shoot out to 300-400 yds. BDC or mil-dot would be great, illuminated a plus. Where can i thread a needlle here and suit all my needs...lol. Looked at a few leupold and even acog clones. Would be interested in any recommendations... |

DMS-1 is a great scope for the price, but you'll need to mount it, and that'll add extra to the cost, especially if you need an extended mount like some people do. Skim the huge DMS-1 thread to see how other people mount it and what might work for you. The inexpensive CAA DVSR mount works for a lot of people. The Burris PEPR mount looks like a good bet, but isn't available yet.
It's mostly a closer range scope, though you could use the circle-dot reticle for ranging with practice, but since it doesn't have a ranging reticle or target knobs, it'll start to fall down a bit past 250 yards. It's also heavy and bulky, and the glass isn't great, but that comes with the price range. I like mine a lot - it's got great features for the money. There are other decent scopes in that price range, like the Weaver V series, Burris Fullfield II, Nikon Buckmaster, and Leupold VXI, but staying with quality glass makes it harder to get features like ranging reticles. |
