| Hello this is my first post. I bought my first AR 15,a Bushmaster A2 back in '99 for name brand purposes as "Defense Contract" speak was going around. It's been stored until about the last year when I decided to start utilizing it.The gun shot great with my load.(Accurate Data Powder 2200 23 Gr/55 Gr FMJ) through a fixed carry handle mounted BSA 42mm red dot that had previously been on a registered SWD M11/9 K Grip mount I designed. Flat tops with reflex sights have become more prominent now. On a tight budget I installed a UTG handguard and a SightMark UltraShot to "it" for a lower profile to a fixed handle mount. This worked great and consistent for 4" center mass groups @100 yards. It is true Co-Witness except for the peripheral interference of the A2 rear sight. Looked for single aperture "flip up" sight insert with no luck. Should I cut off the 0-2 aperture leaving enough "nub" for flipping to BUIS? I went ahead and mounted the SightMark to the original Carry Handle Mount and am completely satisfied for now but never achieved my "lower profile" Any suggestions? |
