Ok, fixing to buy an aimpoint and mount so figured why not go with the best and get it from Larue ( If someone does not think that is a good idea i am still open for suggestions)
but when u go to order it has 3 different mounts to choose from 1:standard 2: RAS ll  3: a cavalier mount.
i am new to red dots this will be my first purchase.
can anyone tell me the difference is?
thanks

Larue IS the best.  They may cost a little more, but their quality is second to none.
I have the LT-129, its a cantilever mount with the ability to store an extra battery in it.
I like how it looks and it also allows you to mount the sight further forward if you ever plan on getting a magnifier or just like the eye relief.

I'm not sure about the other mounts, I haven't tried them yet.

You either want the standard LT-150 or the cantilever LT-129. It really comes down to user preferance. A magnifier can be used with both it's just easier with the 129. The LT-150 probably gets used the most although by a small margin.

I e-mailed LRT about this issue. The 150 is fine with a magnifier if you ever do decide to get one, but you will have to mount the mag farther back. The 129 one lets you have a bulkier BUIS if you like that, use the magnifier, and the aimpoint in front. I went with the 129 because I knew I would fall for the magnifier one of these days. If in doubt, ask yourself if you might possibly want the other one in the future and then buy it.

Can I have your Dillo Dust?

LT129 is great.  Couldn't be happier with it.  The dillo dust that came with it is almost gone... I'm having fantasies about buying more gear from Larue just to get more dust...

RAS 2 fits on the hump of the RAS 2.  If your rail is not a RAS 2 and you mount directly to your receiver you dont want it as it will be too low.  Cantilever as pictured moves the optic forward.  Makes for more room for "stuff" like NV+magnifier or flip to side magnifiers.  Better to be safe than sorry IMO and get the cantilever mount.  Would suck to one day want to mount some accessory behind the Aimpoint and not have room.

I ended up getting the cantilever LT-150 myself because I could use it as-is, or if I wanted to in the future I could get a magnifier and not have to worry about eye relief...

I have the standard Larue Aimpoint mount.  I have no intention of running a magnifier and IMHO, the straight one just looks better.  Total personal preference though.

My LaRue LT129 cantilever QD mount, the battery compartment is at the center with a round cover and a coin slot to open it.

I'm very satisfied with it, probably one of the best mount out there, I'm using it with my magnifier and maybe a NV optic later on.

Definitely order it as a combo from LaRue Tactical, it's hard to beat their combo price also they send you freebie stuff like a LaRue hat, Dillo beverage entry tool, Dillo dust, etc.

Thanks for all of the feed back. kinda curios about something else i found a pretty good deal with gg&g mount for the aimpoint.

so how much better is larue than gg&g?

Larue is the only one... others come close but Larue is where it's at.  Not only is the quality second to none, their service rivals their quality.  Quick asking and order the Larue.

The LT150 has a battery compartment as well I think, look at the pictures of it on Larue's website.

You can see it quite clearly in Alpha-Romeo3's pic...I tried to turn mine with the only thing I had handy, a CR2032 battery....that sucker is on there tight...I'm guessing it is the rubber seal to waterproof it...

The LT-150 straight mount's battery compartment is located under the mount, see pic.
