Ok, fixing to buy an aimpoint and mount so figured why not go with the best and get it from Larue ( If someone does not think that is a good idea i am still open for suggestions)
but when u go to order it has 3 different mounts to choose from 1:standard 2: RAS ll 3: a cavalier mount. i am new to red dots this will be my first purchase. can anyone tell me the difference is? thanks |

Larue IS the best. They may cost a little more, but their quality is second to none.
I have the LT-129, its a cantilever mount with the ability to store an extra battery in it. I like how it looks and it also allows you to mount the sight further forward if you ever plan on getting a magnifier or just like the eye relief.
I'm not sure about the other mounts, I haven't tried them yet. |
| I e-mailed LRT about this issue. The 150 is fine with a magnifier if you ever do decide to get one, but you will have to mount the mag farther back. The 129 one lets you have a bulkier BUIS if you like that, use the magnifier, and the aimpoint in front. I went with the 129 because I knew I would fall for the magnifier one of these days. If in doubt, ask yourself if you might possibly want the other one in the future and then buy it. |

| RAS 2 fits on the hump of the RAS 2. If your rail is not a RAS 2 and you mount directly to your receiver you dont want it as it will be too low. Cantilever as pictured moves the optic forward. Makes for more room for "stuff" like NV+magnifier or flip to side magnifiers. Better to be safe than sorry IMO and get the cantilever mount. Would suck to one day want to mount some accessory behind the Aimpoint and not have room. |

You can see it quite clearly in Alpha-Romeo3's pic...I tried to turn mine with the only thing I had handy, a CR2032 battery....that sucker is on there tight...I'm guessing it is the rubber seal to waterproof it... |
