I just got a red dot scope. When I hold the gun steady and move my head slightly, the red dot moves. Is this normal? I am trying to sight it in but when the dot moves, I obviously cant. What am i doing wrong? Please help.

what kind of red dot sight do you have exactly?

And how close is the objective you are sighting through it?

My aimpoint CompM2 will "move" when I move my head if I'm sighting the wall 5 feet in front of me.  But if I sight it down the hall or anything beyond 10 or 15 feet, there is no movement of the target.

This is normal.  If you need a red-dot scope to be dead accurate at 5 feet, you've got bigger problems than parallax...

I think that might be it! I'll get back to you on it. I feel like an idiot. I was trying to site it in at about 20 feet.

aimpoint recommends sighting in at 25 yards, and then moving out

which red-dot is it?

The condition you describe is called "parallax" which is common on scopes and red dots at close ranges. More expensive holo sites like Aimpoint or EoTech and Trijicon do not have this condition at least beyond a short range. Cheaper red dots may have it for infiniti. Generally, that's why many here avoid the cheaper models.

But tell us what you have and maybe we can offer some help.
