I would like to install a LEUPOLD VX 3    3.5-10x50 mm  It ihas a 30mm tube, on my LMT MRP . (flat top)

My question is, should I get High or Super High rings.

The reason I am asking , I live in Canada and those rings will be a special order, so once I get them and if they are the wrong ones, I will be stuck with them and they are very expensive.

Thanks,

Most people want the scope centerline to be about the same height above the rail as the iron sights, which are at 1.4".  The problem with rings is they don't provide any forward offset, which long eye relief scopes like Leupold may need, depending on how you shoot, and many people use a one-piece mount instead.

Most AR height rings are super high or ultra high.  Here's a thread discussing rings recently:

what ever you do get a one piece mount.  its so much better than two rings.  You can get a RRA mount for $50 if money is a  problem.

One piece ,

What 's wrong with 2 pieces rings.

The biggest reason for one piece mounts is that the cantilever forward the scope for better eye relief.

+1 on the Larue LT-104. I have a Leupold VX3 with a 30mm tube and a 50mm objective on my flat top Colt 6700C. I use this setup for varmint hunting and target shooting.

I have a similar setup (with a 2.5-8x VX 3) with a Larue LT-104 mount as well.  It is a solid mount that offers the proper amount of eye relief and it is the right height as well.

One key in figuring out the right position for a scope on an AR is where the eyepiece is relative to your charging handle.  You can see in the pic above that the eyepiece is a little ahead of the charging handle, which a lot of people need for good eye relief, especiall with Leupolds.

This pic shows a Leupold Mk4 PR 3-9x40 in rings, and you can see that the eyepiece is slightly behind the charging handle when it's as far forward as it can go.  If a position like this works for you, that's good, but if you need it further forward, rings won't allow you to do that.

Take a look at a bunch of mounted scope pics in the various threads to get a feel for what options are available.

I have a VX3 Tactical in a LaRue LT-104....

I used the TPS Super High Rings, Leupold Super High Rings and ARMS #22H prior to buying a LaRue LT-104.....

The Larue is the only way to go....

Since i have an MRP , so the whole TOP of the gun is flat, any reason that rings will not works. I understand eye releif.
