Well,  I went to the range to shoot and zero the TA31RCO-MA ACOG today.  I did a 100 meter zero and my best group from a good rest was a 10 shot group about 2" across and on the bullseye with 7 of the 10 shots within 1.5"!!  I didn't expect to be able to do this with this kind of scope.  The rifle is a Colt 6721 and I was using Federal XM193 ammo.  I am used to standard cross-hair type scopes so the chevron takes some getting used to but with concentration this optic can be very precise.  I also shot it at 25 and 35 yards to see how the POA and POI would differ at short distances.  If I held the 400 meter cross-hair on the bullseye at 25 yards it was a direct hit.  Somewhere between the tip and the 200 meter hold was good at 35 yards.  Firing at a moderate tempo at 100 meters it was no problem putting hits on target and at the close ranges it was easy to stack em in tight with this scope!  So far I have to say I really like this new toy.  Now all I need to do is get some more practice.

I also love my ACOG. I just got a Trijicon Reflex 30 and I like that alot to (it is very good for CQ shooting and speed) but the ACOG you just cannot beat.. and the Chevron does take some getting used to but once you get it down, your gtg. I used to go to the range a lot, like every weekend now its maby every 2 months at the most. I cant believe I went from shooting 1.5" groups with my TA31F to around 3" groups.. it sucks I cant practice more but that is kinda the reason I got the Trijicon Relfex 30. its more of a point and shoot very easy to use but still like any other 1x optic after 50m you cant really see what you are shooting at.. I really have to get down to the range more often. and train a whole lot more..

You gotta love ACOGs.  Uncle Sam issued me my first one when I was a tank platoon leader and I fell in love.  He gave me another one when I was the executive officer of a mechanized company team in Baghdad, again, loved it.  I found that in combat it was great to be able to use your rifle to scan with the 4x optic, as opposed to using binos,  it's a huge advantage.  Not to mention that if you do see something, you can put steel on target with the flip of a switch.

Sabot

Could I ask what acogs you where issued. I'm looking at a ta31 but was somewhat concerned about eye relief compared to a ta11. I've heard a lot about booth but I like what you had to say about the acogs. I have not been able to view each scope on a rifle itself. I've only been able to fake it by resting one on my hand and trying to simulate the eye relief. Anyway thanks for your post

I dont know about what sabot had but we had TA31RCO m-4 scopes and they were outstanding.  If I had any complaints it would be the eye reliefe is pretty damn short but other than that those things are incredible and they can take a hell of a beating.  The glass is super clear and the field of view is just amazing.  if you get one you wont be disapointed.

there are two MOS's in the army

Cute

We had TA31F and M2 Aimpoints,  Now we have M4 Aimpoints and M150s.  The two ACOGs are just about the same just nicer wrappings on the M150.
