Is it better to mount the front sight on the gas block or a free floated rail?

Personally with a flip up front buis I like to install it on the free float rail since I only have buy one length. A gas block buis is a different length than a rail mount buis. I would fear that a clamp on or set screw gas block would work loose before my rail would but I don't have experience with this yet...just guessing. I don't think it's really a matter of which is a better set up...it's more of a personal preference & I like low pro gas blocks to sit under a lengthened rail. I don't think the longer sight radius that a lengthed rail set up with front buis, carbine to mid-length in my particlar case, is that benefitial, however, some folks prefer it.

one thing that I have noticed, is that you can move quite a few of the free float rails out there, up, down, side to side.  not much, but it is noticeable

put a bipod under the front of your rail and prone out, and you may have a different point of aim (rail mounted BUIS ) than if you would shooting off hand.  I like the gas block mounted sight, because it is affixed to the barrel.  the barrel wont flex with a free float rail and a bipod.

just my observations though,  YMMV

Thanks for the opinions.  I may have to play around with it to see what I like.
