| It looks like the mount is a Larue LT-104 which puts the scope centerline at 1.40" above the rail on a flattop AR. In addition, the mount appears to be mounted to a riser which will add another 1/2" or least to the scope elevation. I believe this mount was designed specifically with the AR requirements in mind, and the 1.40" height is baseline for the ARs. Your mount probably is way too high. It appears from your pic that you could come down at least 3/4" from where you are in terms of scope clearance to the rifle barrel now ,and there are lots of ring options to you get there. Is the riser shown in the pic required, or could the rings mount directly to the receiver? |
| I'm partial to Leupold stuff because I've had good experience with it. I read a lot of good things on Burris products. If you're shooting (no pun) for a specific ring height, be aware that the ring guys define their products differently––Leupold defines their's from the rail/mount to the centerline of the scope, while Burris defines theirs from the rail/mount to the bottom of the lower ring. Just make sure you know what you're getting if you're buying on-line. From the pic provided, I'd try 3/4" to the scope centerline and go from there. |
