Can I shoot a EOTech if i am cross dominant  (shoot right handed but left eyed) without closing my dominant eye?

Nope.  You left eye is to far off center to see the dot unless you move your head WAY over.  I'm right handed/left eyed and I can't shoot long guns worth a darn on my rigth side.  I end up leaning over the stock.  Shooting something that kicks hard can make your life interesting!

Hell, I thought I was the only tard eyed shooter,  I have always shot long guns left handed, along with pool, and pistols right handed looking with left eye, nerve racking!  I am trying to train myself to shoot better right handed, I hate it.  Feel like im trying to throw a ball with the wrong hand.  Dur da dur![XX(

I've been shooting long guns left eye'd right handed since I started shooting, never had a problem.  Of course I don't use my left eye for sighting on a long gun, just trained myself over years of repetition to do it with my right.  I can say it was definitely awkward at first, but now it's second nature.  I am ambidexterous with my hands though, so I honestly don't know if that might translate to eyes too.  Either way, in my experience if you practice it enough your eyes/brain will adjust over time.

MrSS,
As Long as my target is not moving I can shoot great with a riflle which has  open sights or scope.  Where I run into problems is with my shotgun shooting cross eye dominant.  If I'm ready all is ok.  Just have to close the dominant eye.  If i'm tired, been chasing birds (usually pheasants)  all day,  etc,  and up jumps one, I usually just spread toxic lead waste over the country side.   Often empty the shotgun and the bird usually gets away.  Like wise, shooting a running jack rabbit pretty tough shooting cross dominant with a rifle.   Back to the original thread..If I can use my nondominant eye with a eotech halograph sight would I be able to leave both eyes open?

I'm right handed and left eye dominant.

I shoot rifles with scopes left eye closed right eye open. Rifles with aimpoints are shot with both eyes open.

Pistols are shot right eye closed, left eye open.

Been shooting like this for 25+ years, so it;s second nature. Practice, practice, practice...

Other than left/right swapped, that's the exact same way I do it.

What type of sight would be best for a person in this situation? I'm asking because I'm somewhat the same way but my girlfriend has it bad. I would like to get one of my ARs setup so she can shoot it with little trouble.

I'm left eye dominant but have trained myself to aim with my right.  I also shoot with both eyes open.
