I'm currently building a 14.5" mid length gas rifle and I was thinking about putting an LMT fixed rear site on it.  I'm also exploring the option of adding an ACOG at a later date.

I noticed that some of the Trijicon ACOGs have a sight tunnel (the TA31F, TA33, etc.)

Was wondering if anyone has used the LMT in conjunction with the sight tunneled ACOGs and what the results were.

The see through part of an ACOG is for when it's mounted on a carry handle, I'm curious as to how you'd mount an ACOG ahead of the LMT sight, I've never seen it done.  4x32 ACOGs have 1.5" of eye relief, mounted forward of the LMT sight will not be very pleasant to use even if you shoot nose to charging handle.

Get a fold down backup sight like Troy, KAC 300M, 600M, GG&G MAD, etc., the LMT fixed rear sight is great with 1X sights like Aimpoint and EOTech, never did see it in use with magnified optics.

Putting in a monolithic rail - didn't realize they only have 1.5" eye relief.

Good to know.

Thanks!

Eye relief aside, you cannot use a magnified optic with a fixed buis.  Like Duffy said, get a Troy or KAC.

Check out the MI SPLP Low Profile BUIS (that is what I use) and also check out the ARMS Low Profile BUIS.. they will fit right under the TA31F and when you want to use IRON sigts just take off your ACOG (a few secs) lift the BUIS up and your gtg.. once in a great while I like to shoot with irons just to be able to keep good groups with them.. nexe time I get a chance to go to the range if I ever do.. I will be doing that.. and will be bring about 300 rounds, since I never go much.
