Which method do you guys use and why? My bushmaster says to sight in the 6/3 -2clicks at 25 yards, but ive also read about the improved battlesight zero method. can someone refer me to which method to use, or a link/thread that explains which to use. |
| oops, my bad, i meant 25 meters. So then with this method, do you just mark on your sight, or write down somewhere the number of clicks for each target, say 100-200-300meters? and should i be able to turn the sight to the 4 and it will be sighted in for 400 meters. If I under stand this right, the bullet will hit at bullseye at 25 meters and 300 meters and then everything in between 25-300 will be a little high, due to the bullet trajectory....did i say that right? |

OK, now ive really got myself confused. If i Sight in at the z, at 25 meters, and then move my sight back to the 6/3, how far off will i be at 50, 100, 150, 200 meters? Am i supposed to turn my rear sight to so many clicks closer to the 4 mark for 50, 100, 150, 200? Sorry, but that MSN sight really got me messed up. I want to sight in at 25, because i want to be able to have the 4 line up with 400 meters, and I'm not sure if that is so with the other methods. |
| ok, i found this link: http://www.usaac.army.mil/amu/ServiceRifle/M16-M4%20data.pdf For the M4 trajectory at 300 meters, it says to sight in at 6/3 at 25 meters. and it shows how far off you are at each distance. Do people normally just remember the amount you are off and compensate, or do you remember the number of clicks it takes to adjust for 100, 200, etc? |

Based on what I have read of most people here, they just zero it once at the lowest setting and forget that it is range-adjustable. I use the IBSZ. ar15zeroing.com/ I have no ranges longer than 200 meters in which to test it, but it works fine for anything under that. If I COULD get ranges longer than 200m, I would just set it to the number on the drum that represents how far out the target is in hundreds of meters (3, 4, 5, etc.). I am not sure what the clicks in between each digit represent. They seem to vary in gradation with more clicks between the bigger numbers, so I am lost in that regard. It's obviously not a mapping of 1 click = X meters. |
| I'm new to this and a little confused. When i set the sights using this method the rear sight will be bottomed out correct? and I will make all elevation adjustments with the front post? I just invested in a sling and front sight tool and am looking to become a better shot. I like the sound of the Improved battle as most shooting I do is at 50 and never gets more than 100 (yet). |
| charger, i'm pretty sure that is correct. after starting this thread about sighting in methods, i found out this. If i put my sights on 6/3 and sight in at 25 yards, then turn my sight two clicks until it is as low as it goes, i am sighted in almost dead on at 50 yards. so my thinking is i will use it on the lowest setting for anything below 300, for 300 ill will use the 6/3 setting and so on with the 4 and 5 marks. granted it will be off a little b/c im using yards instead of meters. Someone correct me if i'm wrong....i havent been able to test this yet at the 300, 400, 500 marks |
