What BUIS, in your opinion, is the best one to put on a flat-top rifle to back up an optic? Prefer one that will fold away. I want something that will last and is good for returning to zero each time it's deployed. It'll be going on a Colt 6920 upper with an AimPoint ML3.

IMO, Troy. I have one on all 4 rifles.

Depends, some people likea simple BUIS and some like the ones with elevation. I like the Matech or the KAC 600.

I have been meaning to ask about this.  Does a BUIS need to be elevated if you have the A2 style front sight? I have removed my carry handle and put a scope on and have no BUIS as of now.  I would like to add one, but not sure if one that mounts to the optic rail would work with my front sight.
Any advice guys?  Not trying to hijack a thread, as I think this is along the same lines.
Thanks to the OP and any advice givers.

I'm very satisfied with my Troy BUIS on both of my carbines a Colt 6721 and a LMT.

Go with the Matech. I got mine for 35 dollars off ebay.. its standard issue for the military so you know its tough and simple.

I like the ones with elevation be cause it is better to have it and never use it than to need it and not have it.

You should use the front sight to set the elevation. I am using mine on a non F marked base with the standard post.

That is awfully inexpensive. I got mine for $70 on the Bay.

I like the LMT BUIS. Fixed BUIS FTW.

I have a ggg, lmt, and troy.  The ggg is the only one I use as an actual buis (behind a 552).  The others are full time sights.  The Troy is heavier duty, but I really like the ggg spring up as well.  The LMT is nice, but it's huge.

For the money I like the YHM 9680

For a fixed BUIS I like my LaRue.  No experience with flip-ups.

for elevation and no plan to use a 3X - LMT
for elevation and plan to use a 3X - KAC 600M
for no elevation and a good quality BUIS I have a few of the PRI. PRI makes a great product and I don't see them getting that much air time around here.

I try to stay away from E-bay due to the massive amounts of fake airsoft stuff out there.  Including fake Matech sights that are identical to the real one.

I like my UTE2 upper receiver for a backup iron sight.  It's always there.  It always cowitnesses w/ the optics.  I'll know something is wrong if they don't match.  Since it's built into the receiver I know it's not going anywhere.

Fixed = LaRue or LMT

Folding = Troy, MI, KAC, ARMS

This pretty much says it all. If budget is concern, get any one of these you can find cheapest, if not, go with the red ones.
