Was just checking them out, after seeing add in Shotgun News and was going to ask the same? www.makosecurity.com/ |

Im going to order a LaRue mount for it. The problem Ive read with the LaRue is that b/c its a 2.5x mag you can see your killflash. I think Im going to go ahead and order the 3x since the 5x is out of stock. If I like it I will order the 5x later and put the 3x on another gun. Im putting this on my Socom w/ compm4. |

Looking around, the sight on CTD is the same one being sold on fleabay: Fleabay Auction |

I just received my 3x mag last week - ordered as a Mako, but marked UAG on the body (you can see that in the CTD pict.) Got it from CTD - about 1 week delivery time to CA. Price as advertised at $99US. I shot it at the range today with my EOTech 511 - it works reasonably well -- eye relief is as advertised (about 1.65") and the glass is very clear. Very solid build; pretty nice single 30mm ring mount. Holds very well and comes on/off easily. I have it positioned about 1" from the EOT, and it ends up being nearly at the charging handle weld - -a good thing cause you have to get yer nose (at least my 1.5" nose)right on it to make that eye relief work. Of course I had to remove my ARMS#40 BUIS to mount the mag, and had to move the EOT forward on top my front rail to accomodate. I did find that I had to re-zero the EOT a bit (which was surprising to me?) - the whole rig held zero pretty well through-out the day, and I was consistently banging the center plates on metal silhouttes at 100yds. I should not that this was with a few-hundred .22s and only a dozen or so .223. Hope that helps. |
|
Texas_Archer - Yes, moved the EOT about 7" forward (on the first few rails of the fore rail now) to accomodate the magnifier. I didnt move the EOT back to the original spot - figuring I'd leave the sight in place as it shoot just as well w/o the mag in this location (and i dont need the rail space on top for anything); I guess I could have tried moving the sight back, but ran out of range time. On another thread, someone pointed out that the EoTech's tend to not hold zero very well (I wasnt aware of that?) and it might have been a coincidence rather than the reconfig. |
Note, the larue pivot mount wont fit the 5x you want... it only fits aimpoint 3x clones. I have an aimpoint $120 shock proof, water proof clone and its never skipped a beat! i got the LT-649S to go with it though. |
Are you sure? The 5x uses a 30 mm tube also, what makes it different from the 3x other than the lens? Let me know before I push the buy button. Thanks. |

If you look closely at the Larue pivot mount, you can see that the ring does not split apart in order to put it around the 30mm section of the scope. Your magnifier must be able to "slide" into the ring. The ring does not split apart. If your magnifier has an enlarged bell, it will not slide into the ring, and you're out of luck. The original aimpoint design has the 30mm section at the front-most part of the sight, so it can slide into the mount. |

tag That LaRue Po Boy mount looks interesting ... would love to have a magnifier for my EoTech 512. I thought this as well, but it only offers 2.5 magnification. I would want at least the 5 power model. I agree, but for a Po Boy I figure I can live with a 2.5x. |

Hey would you guys who purchased one of these be willing to post some pics of the setup? I have the EOTech 512 which is already a little long so wondering how much room I need. Is it good to mount the EOT on a quadrail? Thanks... Tony If you have a quad rail you can gain a lot of room by clamping on the furthest forward slot and although it'll appear like you're bridging the gap you won't be because the rest of the EO floats. |

Ha ha ha... my first post and I am ressurecting an old thread!
So I'm still looking at the Mako x5 magnifier. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/SCP411-0.html Contacted LaRue and the best they gave me was the LT670-EO. http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Categories.bok They say that they have conflicting reports about whether or not the mount works... but I like their guarantees so I don't think it's an issue to test it. I'm more wondering how well the magnifier lines up with the Eotech (I havea 512). I don't suppose anyone is running this set-up? |
|
I was just looking at a 5X today at a local store.
I like it, especialy the magnification power for my Aimpoint. I've been considering the aimpoint magnifier but still I'd rather have the 5x setup. For the price it seems good, but I'd rather have a folding or quick detach mount |

However, there are LaRue clone mounts coming out now that do allow for Eotech magnifiers to be mounted in them, since they slplt apart like a scope ring and allow for the Eotech magnifier to be mounted in there. Have any of these mounts come out? I am in between a 3x & a 5x Mako & would love a flip mount..... Any reports on the mounts or the Mako? |

Burris has a new 30mm Flip to the side mount for only $37.00Should be out in two weeks.Check them out on SWFA under mounts and rings, then click on burris. They look pretty nice for a mako 3X or 5X magnifier! It says on their website (Burris) that it may not be out this year, problems in making them. |

I used one for a little over a thousand rounds before I broke my EOTech. Worked great. I got mine from CheaperThanDirt. Glass was clear, never fogged up, and looked & felt well made. Really not much can go wrong or break on a magnifier except the glass. How did you break your EO???????????? |
|
Quoted: Any new word or pictures on if this mako 5x will work with a Larue flip to the side mount and a troy buis / Eotech 512? I have a troy quad rail and am not worried about pushing the 512 forward. Well, lets see... The magnifier is still larger than the ring The LaRue ring is still smaller than the magnifier It can only go one way from here... |

I though the jury was still out on the size of the front bell on the mako 5x. So it is in fact 34mm and will therefore not fit on the larue 30mm flip mount? |
