I am looking for suggestions for a cheap, yet descent and durable holographic sight. I do not want to spend more than $125.00. I am aware that saving for a good high quality sight is best, but It will take far too long. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks!

New, you can forget it. Save your money. Get an Eotech.

You can get a doctor or something, but still not quite in your price range. Why holographic?

I want an Eotech, but $$ is insufficient. Will be for a while. I do not want a scope on it (have one on now), I do not like "red dots" due to I believe it is called "parallox" where you need to look at the glass perfectly strait or your dot will wander on the target. I have seen a few cheap holographic pieces but see bad or conflicting reviews. I want the fastest two eye close range sight possible.

I am still new to the holographic/red dot world, only having one BSA red dot, so please excuse my incompetence in the area.

it's paralax and it generally affects MAGNIFIED optics. all will have it to some degree but red dot and holo sights suffer from it much less.

for the 100.00 price range you aren't going to find much.

you might look into the strikefire now that it's been released by vortex

Bushnell makes a holosight that is basically an Eotech without the extra armor piece and without the water protection.  I hear it's even made on the same assembly line with Eotech's.

I had a BSA and a NCStar and they were both shit, spend some money and get soming nice.

I hear these are OK.

No such thing as what you are looking for. To my knowledge, the only holographic sights out there are EOtech, and the Bushnell unit which is made by EOtech.

Everything else is a red dot.

This is what I feared. I will probably just end up saving for the Bushnell model. Thinking about the ATN Ultra Holographic red dot. IF it doesn't work for me, it can always go on the shotgun, or something.

Thanks for the replies!!

No worries, BSA I can see. Bushnell makes a "Holosight". They were the original and L3 bought in and you get Eotech. Bushnell is just as good quality, same look, and a little cheaper but above $125. You could always put a laser on you AR if paralax is that big of a deal and you can find one in your price range.

The Bushnell is not made by Eotech.  They are both made by L3 communications.  Save your money and get the Eotech.  I was going to get the Bushnell but after further study saved my money for over a year and bought the Eotech.  It is better(Eotech). You dont save that much by getting the Bushnell and they only offer 2 configurations.

ummm NO.

l3/eotech invented and manufactured the eotech from day one. burshnell distrubuted it for the civillian market as the "holosight".

the current revision of the eotech is market primarliy for.mil/le markets and comes with different reticles and an armored shell. the bushnell has fewer reticle options and no armor but is the same basic sight.

IIRC the eotech also has a better warranty.

Yep,  I've got an NCstar "holographic style" sort of like 10 the c-mores.  I put it on my ak pistol and about rds. nearly did it in.  It has the light intensity switch number 1 to 7.  Now it cuts off when it's turned on the numbers and comes on in between the numbers.  I'm afraid to put it on that one again.  It seems ok on the ar for now.  I blew a few hundred rounds and it hasn't killed it yet.  It was 50 or 60 bucks.  Save a little and get a better name brand.

Just get the eo tech and put it on a credit card, then pay it off in 4 $100 payments.

I've seen used Bushnell Holosights and XLPs for around $125-$150; they show up on ebay all the time.

Thanks for the correction. The Bushnell Holosight is still a good buy and if you like the config, it is money well spent. Agreed the Eotech is Top tier, but Bushnell is second if you are really hard up about going holographic.

XLP's? That's not the "551 replicas" that are unmarked are they?..... Shady deal if it is.

The xlp sucks IMO.  Maybe ok on a shotgun for turkey hunting but not the ar.  I've shot a ar with one and in my book there was no comparison to that and a Eotech.  The xlp was too low profile and ......... kinda cheesy..
