would like something similar to to the docter optics red dots that go on the acogs... i found one made by NcStar, dont have the link now as im at work, never heard of the company tho, anybody know of them or other imilar products? i just need a small reflex sight for a shotgun, not for duty use. any help or links are appreciated. |

If Victors is the same as the NCStar (I hope not but sure looks like it) run, don't walk away from it. The NCStar I played with was a complete turd. The Burris is an excellent sight for the money. Docters are a little pricey but you do get what you pay for when it comes to optics, red dots included. |

I am enjoying my Burris. I got to train with it for a couple of hours on Monday and I was suprised at how well it worked. On the range with a mix of partly sunny and overcast it was always readily visible. Indoors doing room clearing it was like a beacon on top of the gun. It was super fast to pick up and appeared bigger than 4 MOA--perfect for cqb. I am seriously considering one for a Springfield XD to see how well it works there. |
+1 I have one of those, and it's not worth much. The lens is terrible. The dot goes from a dot to a line, depending on where it is in the window. Parallax is all over the place too. Put the unit on a solid surface and move your head around. The dot will move around in the window, but will also move around on the target. It should stay in the same place on the target. I have a Fastfire that I'm pretty happy with. The Docter's are excellent. The JPoint is pretty good too (about on par with the Burris). The Docter is about the best, but it costs double too. |
No dot sight is parallax free at all ranges. Does the EOtech move on some targets, the Dr Optic, the Aimpoint? Yes, they all do. The RDP has some extra distortions at the edges vs the Dr Optic but the Dr optic still has distortions at the edges. The worst thing about the RDP is it has no minimum brightness... if its very dark the unit is not illuminated at all. |
The RDP-II is not the same as the NcStar. I just got one and for $150 shipped, you can't beat it. |
The NCStar I am talking about and the RDP-II are both direct copies of the Docter. ETA - looks like the NCStar version has been updated with an on/off switch. It's junk. The RDPII looks to be identical without the on/off battery disconnect in the base. NCStar Docter Copy ETA: NCStar  RDPII

Thought I would chime in here since my name is getting tossed in a hat sorta speak.  Bullit, you should really research your facts on a few things....The RDP is not the NCStar period, never heard of it. Also the LED in the RDP is OUR direct input design and testing all done here for the LED specifically. This is why it's as bright as it is and is working well we feel. In many ways the RDP's LED is brighter during the day but the Doctor works better at night. Could we also say Trijicon's red dot sight is knock off of the J-Point which after all is the same or knock off of the Optima 2000? Some say the early model J-Points are still a O2000 with just a different name from the Chec Republic? How many different ways can a body housing be made? I do not think it's junk for the money at all. We do not have many returns to speak of. Also, I sure hope our SAR (Scope Accessory Ring) and MURM (Mulit-Use Rai & Light Ring) will not be categorized as junk from folks that do not have a unit in hand to voice any real feedback.. Thus far, folks in harms way have some pretty good things to say about these specific units as well. Hope this helps. Vic Di Cosola |
Little sensitive are we? I was making a statement that I hoped they were not the same. Never once did I call your sight junk, I called the NCStar sight junk. Read before you attack me next time.

I clearly stated in my initial comment that I hoped they were not the same, go back and read it. Again, you made the association between me calling the NCStar junk and your RDPII. I didn't, I just said they looked to be the same and they do. You came to tell us they are not the same, 'nough said IMO. ETA - for future knowledge, where is your sight made? I'm actually glad you make a red dot that is affordable and reliable. |

I have two Burris Fast Fires and they both work great. One on top of my TA31f ACOG and one on my FN five-seveN. As good as they are, they are not Docter's. You really do get what you pay for. The Docter's LED is much bighter in all conditions, a little more rugged and more water resistant. I am selling both to friends and putting a Docter on the 5.7 and an Aimpoint Micro T-1 on a 1:00 mount next to my ACOG. MadDog

Bullit is correct.... The sight is manufactured and assembled in a few places. LED Electronics Design here, assembled Chec Republic Body Housing/Final Assembly Asia Body Housing Screws Taiwan Replacement Screws Oklahoma I've always been curious were the rest of the red dots on the market are made and their breakdowns? The only one I know about is the Doctor and that WAS Germany, but I think only the glass is from their nowadays. Not confirmed. |
