I see that the night reticle for the ACOG is made of tritium, the same material that was used for a while on Rolex watches to make them glow in the dark.  Those Rolex watches would lose their night vision after about 10 years.  Would this cause the same problem with the AGOG?  If the optics are used for SHTF and that never happens, 10 years can go by pretty fast and then all of a sudden you are with a worthless scope.

Thoughts?

Bunch of numbers and stuff that shows half life is at 13.2 years.  You can always send it back to Trijicon to have the lamp replaced.  My Rolex Seadweller, on the other hand.....I dunno what Rolex would charge me to replace the numerous glow in the dark parts, there are one on each hand, and one at each hour except 3 o'clock where the date window is, AND one more on the rotating bezel

Why the hell would it be worthless?  The recticle wouldnt go away it just would not glow in the dark.  Trijicon will recharge the lamp when it burns out anyway.

You could send it back but your talking in the $200 + range for them to redo the optic.  It would have all new lenses and would pretty much come back brand new for the most part.

IIRC its a $50 charge to put a new tritium lamp in it.
