I'd wait until the new larger 42mm ones hit the streets. Trijicon has redesigned them. I wish they would make then with a red reticle rather then the amber. Amber for some people is harder to see and eayier to "lose" (washout) in lower light. Once the 42mm ones go on sell the older smaller one just might get cheaper. I'd have always like the idea of them and now that the 42mm size ones are getting made I'll probebly pick one up. I just like stuff that don't need batteries. |

I recommend them highly. i've tried the EOtech, but I just don't like having to take the time to turn it on, and possibly run into a low battery. For standard range use, I guess the EOtech is OK, but I originally got the Reflex for my patrol rifle. Taking the time to turn the EOtech on and adjust the brightness just didn't appeal to me. So, I picked up a Reflex with the triangle for my .223 patrol rifle, and I like it a lot. Then, I took a CQB class with it, and found that, for close up work, I prefer the dot. So, on the .223 AR Carbine, I keep the Reflex with the triangle mounted. But, on my Oly 9mm and .45 AR's, I use the smaller dot Reflexes on them. For 50 yards on in, I feel the dot has it. For anything from 50-300 yards, I prefer the triangle. Until recently, I had only used the triangle Reflex out to 200 yards, and was very happy with it. But, a friend of mine built a 300 meter range in his back 40, and I got to try it there. Just resting on the back of a pickup bed, I was hitting a piece of 14" I-beam about 18" long most of time time, and that was with cheap Wolf 55gr ammo. Sometime, I'd like to upgrade to an ACOG for my patrol rifle. Then again, I may just put an ACOG on my M1A and keep the .223 carbine the way it is. Too many choices, too little money. |
