What sight is best (EOTech or AimPoint) for use with an AR for fast (both eyes open) CQB shooting and accuracy at 100M and less?  I have an EOTech 511 on my RRA and like it a lot.  I am just curious how the new military style AimPoint stacks up during fast action drills in carbine courses.  I had the EOTech in a carbine class over the weekend and it did very well.  But, I am wondering if that new AimPoint CompM4 would be a good purchase with a LaRue mount on my incoming LMT.

Hey John,

I have both Aimpoints and EOTechs and they are both really good sights that I like a lot.  However, the Aimpoint has up to 5 years of battery life if left on!!  Compare that with EoTechs that will die after 8-10 days.

Also, I prefer the single dot of the Aimpoint versus the 65/1 MOA sight of the EOTech.  Both have similar field of vision, so one isn't better than the other for target acquisition in my opinion, but you may feel so.

Also, unless you need Night Vision capability, don't waste the extra money on the CompM4, get an ML3 with a LaRue mount and save hundreds of dollars.  The M4 is a great sight, but very pricey.   Even the M3, is a better choice and it is Night vision capable.

Good luck with your decision.  But for me, the battery life and 2-4 MOA dot is the way to go is Aimpoint.
