Probably. Its probably the UTG rear sight. But for $20 it might work for range use.

Yup, just did a search for "UTG rear sight" and it's the exact same sight.  Are these designed for airsoft guns?  Has anyone used this on their AR?

Yes it is UTG/ Leapers chicom crap.  With that said it may be worth $20.  The flip ups are abyssmal (too wobbly), but that fixed one may work some.

I paid $60 for a DPMS fixed rear (the one with 2 thumb screws), and it is a nice piece of equipment.  Also, YHM makes some inexpensive, decent fixed rear sights.

I wouldn’t waste my time or money.

If your looking for that style of BUIS, find a used carry handle in the E n’ E and cut a DIY CCH BUIS.

i got one on a whim at a gun show and to this date the rifle is still in zero and I have never had an issue with it..

Range gun only!  IMHO any BUIS for that price (new) is not going to hold up to even minor range use.

It's a lot cheaper at AIM. I've got one, but I've yet to use it.

I have one and it works fine.  In fact, I feel pretty good about only spending a few bucks for a perfectly usable rear site.  I think I also bought mine through AIM.  For those that say it's crap.... have you ever used one and why was it crap to you?  This is solid metal through and through.  I don't buy into the argument that if it's less than a $100 for an AR part you can't trust your life to it.

I have one on my 9mm ar, and it works pretty well, no loss of zero (2000+ rounds).  You have to tighten in down pretty tight, finger tight will loosen over a few hundred rounds.

I had one, untill I went to an A1 upper, no problems.

I got a leapers carry handle for $40 it worked well and kept a zero, but I eventually realized I needed a brand name one so I got one from rock river. Both handles worked but the adjustment "clicks" were smoother and the nobs came loose less. So I had a cheap carry handle sitting around a no BUIS so I chopped it and attached a rail if I had a drill press the project would have come out better, I eventually completely cut it. For what it worth spend $100 on one you want I went though all of this and now have a ARMS 40LP that cost me $140 and folds nicely under my scope and I cant be happier with it.

Too many shadows you cant see the BUIS this is the best one I have I need to take a few close up pics, but you can see the gap of light between the scope and the sight. A little background to the pic, It was taken at an empty range with a empty gun all the ammo was 300 yds away. We were posing for a silencer give away contest.

I bought one and it's junk.  Can't zero the SOB.  Red dot works fine, as does the Flip up YHM BUIS I have.  You can't adjust enough to the right to zero.

I think I used Cheaper than dirt.  I plan on contacting them to return it for a different one and see if mine was a fluke.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm not a competition shooter by any means.  I just like going to the range and shooting for fun.  I've been looking for some sort of rear sight for the M4gery I just ordered.  I just need something on there so I can take it out and shoot.

I've been a little apprehensive of spending $100+ on a rear sight.  For that money, I'd rather buy another stripped lower.  That's just me though.

ANY gun part made in China is crap.

Support American's not Chinese with your gun money.

Several of us have already established that it's not crap.  So if you want something inexpensive that will work fine then go ahead.  If you don't want to buy something made in China that's fine also, but that doesn't make it crap.  I think the original question was regarding quality not nationality.

They are fine.  Don't let the non-brand bashers skew your decision.  If you want an affordable rear BUIS to shoot at the range with, the Leapers or UTG or most any airsoft-style sight will work.

There is one issue you need to be aware of.  The thread is here.

www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=18&t=376538

The mounting screw aside, the sight was fine, it held zero and was well constructed.  The markings were correct and I was able to adjust the elevation wheel for the Improved Battlesight Zero.

Of course, I upgraded and bought a RRA Tactical Carry Handle which gives me a raised rail for optics if I choose.

Well see, this is where we differ.................

I do not view my weapons as “for the range only”. My weapons are there for my shooting pleasure, yes. But, I also rely on my weapons to defend myself and my family.

And when it comes to the defense of myself and my family, I will not lay my trust in a $20 Chinese air soft BUIS.

QUIB-

To each his own.  There's nothing wrong with that approach.

But, I don't see why people on this forum are quick to be criticized or judged for not being able to afford the best quality parts for a firearm.

If someone wants to know if a simple fixed BUIS will work for their desired purpose, I think he should get an objective answer that relates to the item and not its perceived lack of quality or country of manufacture.  After all he is asking "DOES IT WORK?", not "WILL THIS LAST FOREVER?" or "BY BUYING THIS AM I SUPPORTING THIS COUNTRY'S ECONOMY?".

(Okay so I went off on a tangent here since the OP in this thread asked "Is this crap?", but we see threads like this pop up very often)

And let's be practical now.  The BUIS in question is a very simple design that can easily be copied to resemble the original design in both form and function.

And with all due respect (really, you contribute a lot to the forum), if you were using an AR for home defense would it really matter if you had a $20 BUIS or a $150 BUIS if both were zeroed?  Your main goal is to shoot whoever is invading your home so they won't be a threat -- you aren't trying to shoot out their eyeballs or their nipples.

i have the utg sight on my m4 and have never had an issue with it

it's dead on and i would not have a problem using it if my aimpoint

ever crapped out on me for some reason. just think how many pmags

i was able to buy by saving 80 to 100 bucks by getting a 30 dollar rear

sight that works just as well as the 100 dollar ones

I’m not going to get sucked into an argument in the differences in quality between air soft Chinese crap and quality optics designed for real firearms. I know the difference.

If folks here think just because a Chinese knock off of the LMT BUIS looks like the real LMT BUIS, and that that must mean it meets the same quality standards in material and performance as the real item, then they can go ahead and waste their money.

I use it on my 45 AR.  so far one range session, zero issues.  but its a very low recoil just-for-fun gun.

I have both the LMT (supposedly same one issued to some of our military) and the UTG.  I paid 120 for the LMT from CMMG and 29 or so for the UTG from CDNN.

Lemme put it this way...I wish I'd seen the CDNN one for sale before I bought the LMT from CMMG.

Not a damn bit of difference between the two other than the shape of the body of the "cheapo" UTG differs ever so slightly from the high dollar LMT.

And for the record, I AM a "pay once/cry once" kinda guy.  But sometimes you can find off-brand stuff that is really close to the real deal.  Now would I trust a S.P.O.T. scope over an M3 Aimpoint when my ass is on the line?  Hell no!!! (for the record I am NOT LEO or Military so my ass is never really on the line...except when my GF sees my credit card bill with a couple grand in gun purchases :))  But for an iron BUIS that feels and looks identical to the HSLD name brand after actually owning and shooting both with no problems?  Yeah.

YMMV.

Why is it that people will purchase an 800-1000 dollar weapon and slap a POS pot-metal sight on it?  One of the most important parts of your rifle that has nothing to do with mechanical function and some people will just put pure crap on there.  Save your money for a few weeks and buy something that doth not suck.

Because I just spent 800-1000 dollars on a rifle and can't understand how that tiny piece of metal is worth 100+ dollars.  I have yet to see anyone post any details on how the UTG rear sight is any different than the LMT.  It looks mechanically the same to me.  Perhaps you can tell me the differences between the two... other than the cost.  I'm assuming you've used the UTG sight.

By the way... if you check the Cheaper Than Dirt website for this item, you'll find 24 very positive reviews from experienced AR users in addition to the others on this forum who have actually used it.

Because the UTG crap(and I mean crap) is made of inferior metals(think matchbox car) and the guys buying their AR stuff from cheaper than dirt are a bunch of couch commando, airsoft playing, mall ninjas who cannot determine the difference between the products produced by a military contractor and a chinese airsoft knockoff company.  Save your loot until the next time you get paid and buy a better unit and in the end you'll be happier when it still holds zero and you see another rifle with such suck-a#$ knockoff crap on it.
