Hey guys I was looking at getting a ACOG (TA33) and was wondering if anyone had any opinions on the different color reticles. I have a red aimpoint now so I am leaning toward the Amber. Let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance

ETA: I have looked at both inside a store but I have not shot with either. I am leaning toward the Amber but I am just trying to get opinions from people who have actually used them in the field

I prefer the Amber reticles in our scopes.  I don't ming the Red, but given the choice I'll take Amber every time.

i prefer red. i find that the amber is not as easy to pick up against some backgrounds.

I've had both and only use red now.  Red is just easier for me pick up then the amber.

Both topics are under "optics, mounts, and sights".

You're thread must have been moved.

Are you red/green color blind?  If so, you only choice is the amber.  My son cannot see red-dots in anything other than total darkness but he sees the amber dots just the same as you and me.  If anyone is color blind or has a shooter that is color blind, the amber dots are a God-send.

this is a post I made in the Accupoint thread. However I should say that the Trijicon rep and I were particluarly speaking about the accupoint , we didnt alk about the acog at all.

"just for everyones information, I just spoke with Trijicon and I asked which has the brighter reticle in the Accupoints, Amber or Red. The rep. told me the Amber is by far brighter in daylight but the red is easier to see as far as contrast goes in low-light. He did say that the amber is a little brighter in extreme low light when using tritium. I asked him if this was his personal opinion or the general consensus of Trijicon. He said that is the general consensus among the folks at Trijicon. "

I only ever used red due to the fact it is the color of the issued optic I had.  I recently got a TA47 in amber, and I have to say I prefer it.
