I can get an aimpoint ML2 for $365 or a demo Eotech 551 A65 rev.F for $330.  Even though the Eo is cheaper, with all of the bad press it is getting I kinda am unsure about how good of a deal it is.  The sight will be going an A2 w/ a scout type mount.  It seems like the more open Eo or even a bushnell holosight would be beter then an ML2 in this set-up.
Hell it's not like I am LEO or going to the sandbox, maybe the spot would be good enough for a range/ tractor gun?  I know the ML2 and Eo are bright enough in strong sun, but is the spot even close in brightness and clarity?  Is the bushnell holosight even worth looking at?  I know it has less batt. run-time and not as bright as rev.F Eo.
I was really leaning towards the 551 , but after skimming through all the " my Eotech crapped out" threads it has me a little concerned.

Everyone's experience is different.  I have both and I'm partial to the eotech for what I use the weapon.  I have been running the same Rev F eotech for quite a while now and haven't had a single problem.  I haven't personally dealt with eotech customer service, but from what I have read, they will take care of you in the event you have a problem.

Every manufacturer has its problems.  There are a large number of eotechs and aimpoints out there.  Will there be problems with some...sure.  In my personal experience, I haven't seen any major problems (first hand) with either of them.  And I haven't read about any problems that haven't been fixed.  Just my 2 cents..
