Hi all, I am gonna build a varmint/target ar15 rifle - mainly range/target out to max 300 yds.

For scope I am considering a Millet with SF 6-25x56mm with duplex reticle. Not a bad price for a scope of this power and features. But I don't want to skimp on quality optics either. I have a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40mm on my 30-06, this is quality piece of glass. Maybe I should get another Nikon - 4.5-14x40mm? what do you all think?

Wondering the same thing. I am considering buying a Millet...but I guess at this point I am considering buying anything less than $300

If it's half the scope the [my] TRS is, you will not be disappointed.

Thank's, I went ahead and ordered from SWFA. But , sadly, after I ordered it(online) I received an email from SWFA stating that it is on Backorder They did have the best price , that I found. Although I would have liked to have received my new scope sooner, rather than later...................I'll wait.

BTW : I ordered the Millet Buck Gold New Gen. SF 6-25x56mm! Man I can't wait.

I too have the TRS and I am getting ready to order a second.  I have a lot of scopes, most Leupold including Mark 4s, and while this is not the scope the Leupold is it is damned good IMO.  I have not had any trouble and the clarity is very good.  For the price it is going to be a very hard to beat scope.

If you want it RIGHT NOW, check with Graf & Son.  In stock, $350

I like SWFA also but have had to cancel items ordered when no delivery date was known.  They cancel orders easily and do not give you a lot of grief.  That is one reason I like them so much.

Thank's! I contacted SWFA and they had an estimated ship date sometime in the middle of June. Well, I canceled the order(which they did with no problem) and I ordered the scope(in stock) from Graf & Son. Thank you again!

I just got back from zeroing my new TRS-1 on my DPMS .308 and was very pleased with it.  I shot my best group ever with it and the lit reticle was very nice as it got after 7 pm.

The glass was very clear and the reticle was a nice thickness and very crisp.  I did some range estimation drills and I like their take on the mil dot reticle.

I've got 2 of the TRS scopes covering an AR and a 308 bolt. They are big scopes.
I've got no complaints at all, I like the reticle.
The side focus is a little stiff, but I haven't had to hamfist it around and I like the turret lock feature. Not sure it's needed but it's there. Don't forget the little allen wrench for the turret zero on the range trip.
One quirk and I don't know why this is; a click detent at 10x but mildot ranging is at 16x. I dunno why this is and it doesn't affect anything, I just wonder why.

I talked to a guy at Millett before purchase and asked him about a turn count and 1/4 clicks or a variation of the current 1/8 moa. He said they do plan to add a turn count next year and are exploring a change to the 1/8 moa. The 1/8 is not a big deal and neither is the turn count as I've never had to crank on mine, just saying that it might get changed for those that like those features.
I think it's a great scope for the money.

Mine is calibrated for standard mildot ranging at 10x and thus the click is very useful for me when dialing up the magnification in the dark.

My shooting buddy got his a couple of weeks before I did and his is calibrated at 10X as well.

Are you sure yours is calibrated at 16X?

I read a review online, and the reviewer didn't know why the 10x had a indent(click)

I just took this directly from Millets website: TRS Manual -

On the TRS-1 you have a Zoom Ring that allows you to adjust the magnification of the
scope for differing shooting conditions. The scope is variable from 4X to 16X power.
The Mil-Dotbar is set to be 1 mil at 10X on the Zoom Ring. At this position, the Mil-Dot
and Mil-Dotbar is 3.6 inches at 100 yards. There is an indent at the 10X setting on the
Zoom Ring to aid in finding this position.

I stand righteously corrected. I checked and proved myself wrong as you suspected all along

Scientific Method:
I took a pie plate out in the pasture and hung it off a fence post at what I know to be about 100 yds and at 10x I read a little over 3 mils, about 3.1 or 3.2 on a 12" pie plate. At 16x I read about 4.5 mils, with 1 mil = 2.5" at 100 by the manual. Close enough.
Danged old manual. Facts right in my face.

Conclusion:
Texas Instruments say I was wrong. You all said I was wrong.
I was wrong.

No biggee.  We all have those moments.  I am not great at range estimation but I really like the reticle.  The hashs are easier to read than dots for me and now I can start measurements on a dot or hash.  Knowing that the dot is .72 MOA I use this to help me get more precise on my estimations of partial mils.

I also like that it has 20 mils across the scope versus the standard 10.  In sniper school, we had to measure windows and doors and were taught how to measure the first 36 inches and then move the hold and add to it.  With the Millett I can get 72 inches in the scope so it is one less step to do.
