Just bought a Bushmaster varminter with a flat top. I mounted high base rings for the scope but even the high rings are not high enough. It still requires and uncomfortable position , cheek to stock . Is the super high rings that much difference or is there better solution? |

First off, let me mention that we have a section solely dedicated to mounting optics on AR's. Just hit the "AR15" tab at the top, then scroll down to "Optics, Mounts, and Sights". You'll find lots of good info there. Also using the search (with 30 day setting) for "scope mount" I found this thread that may have just what your after. I personally am cheap. I got a Larue M1913 riser mount, and stuck a set of "high" rings on it (I had the rings lying around). I've been blissfully happy with that arrangement. Tex78 |

I would caution on the cheap if you are looking to mount an expensive optic. I am also cheap, but would not mount my Swarovski's or Nightforce scopes on a cheap mount. If you are running BSA or something the like then don't waste money on expensive mounts. If you have a really good piece of glass then I highly recommend LaRue and although very expensive the Nightforce unimount is awesome. If you stick w/ a 2 piece ring set I highly recommend lapping them prior to seating (even a cheaper) scope. Every bit helps. Also, I have been very impressed w/ the quality of Nikon and Bushnell 3200 & up series scopes. IMHO best bang for the buck out there. And I'm an optics snob. |

081420popo, I just bought a 3200 and have not yet bought a mount. This is for a Rock River entry tactical. What 1 piece mount would you recommend? I am looking for the best bang for my buck on the mount too, so nothing too expensive please. Thanks for the advice... |

The Armalite's the best made of the under $100 one-piece mounts, but is lower than most, with a 1.25" centerline (the iron sight centerline is about 1.4"). While you won't see the front sight at anything above 3x or so, most BUIS' won't fit under most scopes in it. If you don't need a BUIS under it, it's hard to beat for the money. |
| Thanks maxicon, that is good info. The Rock River Hi Riser Scope mount looks like it sits higher, which looks like it would work better with a BUIS. However, I do like how the Armalite slants forward, giving a little more eye relief. Thanks again for the reply and keep the info coming! |

Sorry, should have posted this earlier: Here's the Big List of one-piece mounts: www.maxicon.com/guns/optics/one_piece/ar15_onepiece_mounts.htm Another option is to use an extended rail and rings that give you the height you need. It's the most flexible option, but there are more connections to shift or loosen. |

Thanks for the picture and recommendation. Armalite's web site now offers this mount at $89.00 which is still competitive. This offers the best combination I could find of performance and economics. I plan to order mine on Monday and hope to post pics shortly thereaafter. |
