Can someone tell me what optic would be issued to a standard Army Infantryman? Need the info for a new build. Thanks! |

In 2005-2006, we were issued the Aimpoint M68 with the killflash filter, rubber cover, and lens covers. It was mounted in a Knight's Armament cantilever QD mount. We had the standard M4 FSP, with a MATECH BUIS. We are MOBing in October, and we have the same ones already issued to our unit. Not sure if this is going to change in theater or not. |

In my Bn in 2004-05 MOST were Aimpoint M68s, but there were some ACOG TA31Fs and about 7-8 MARS in the HQ Co (Scouts). Guys I have spoken to that have just come back report it is still Thunderdome as to optics. Some have ACOG, some Aimpoint, some EOTech, some MARS, some ELCAN some use a homebrew if the CO lets them. Standard?............get one that is black in color, your choice of type and you are there. |
My little brother is joining the Army and I wanted to build a rifle similar to what he would most likely use. I already purchased an M&P15T and I know that's not an accurate representation of what he would use, I just wanted to add some goodies to it to get it close. Also, I'm doing the furniture in FDE as kind of a nod to the fact that he'll be in the sand. (probably) That being said, what specific light and IR do they use? Again I am talking about a standard Infantryman right off the loading ramp. Thanks! |
I use a simple & Rugged Viking Tatics mount with a surefire G2 I have a surefire L5 on backorder but I think I will use it as a carry only light for ccw |
I have a personally-owned Surefire E2L in a Vltor mount that I am using for now, but the E2L isn't as bright as I would like. It works fine for room distances in my house, outdoors not so much. They will probably issue M951s to everyone before we leave, but no sign of them yet. |
