I did a search, and didn't find exactly what I was looking for so if I missed it, I apologize. I'm in the market for a red dot site. I'm still trying to decide between an Aimpoint, and EoTech, but leaning towards the EoTech. What I'm wondering is this. I don't have fantastic vision due to an eye injury many years ago. I wear either contacts or glasses almost all the time. I'm concerned that I'm not going to be able to pick up the red 'dot' of the Aimpoint because of the size of the reticle. I think that the 65MOA Ring and dot of the EoTech would help me pick up the reticle easier. I've never looked through either of them, and I do understand the both eyes open concept Is this a valid concern, or is it really no big deal? Thanks! |

I don't have much experience with vision issues, other than my Dad who is farsighted. My brother and I installed a Red dot on his Ruger MKII because he had trouble with the irons sights. Are you near, or far sighted, or maybe blurry or bliond spots? In any case, I would think the EOtech Circle MAY be better for quick close range shots, but the Dot in the circle is only 1MOA, versus the Aimpoint's bigger 2 or 4 MOA dot. |

What your discussing is the reason I got an EOTech over an aimpoint. I think the 65moa with a 1 moa dot is ideal for what I do. I used to have a bushnell trophy which uses a 4moa dot on the smallest dot setting and I am way faster with the EOTech. Also consider if you plan on getting a 3x behind it. Ive looked through my buddies aimpoint with a 3x and compared to the 512 I have with a 3x, I thin the EOTech is far better when magnified. That 4moa dot aimpoints use ends up being a 12 moa dot inside a 3x. Not exactly precise. There are pros and cons to each, but the EOTech will be as rugged and long lasting as I will ever need. |
