I just received my brand new Rev. F  EOTech from an E-Bay action and I am not sure if the unit is working correctly.
I have never owned a Holographic sight so I don't know what the 65 MOA circle or the center dot should look like but mine appears to be a series of smaller dots that make up the circle. I thought it would be a solid line. I can adjust the brightness so that it is clear and sharp. If this is correct then I'm a happy camper but if it's not correct I'll need to send it back for repair. Also there is a small amount of parallax, when the rifle is sitting on my rest I can move my head from side to side and the center dot will come off the target by about a half an inch at 10-15 yards.

Thanks for any help with this matter,
Knucklehead

By the way, if your in the market for a 512 you can get them on E-Bay delivered to your door for $355.00

The dots are normal, but instead of looking at them look at your target, your eyes will blend in the reticle to clear it up nice. The small movemtne will still allow for good shot placement.

Yep, that's normal.  As you already correctly figured out all you have to do is turn down the brightness slightly and it sharpens up.  Also, keep both eyes open, and as others have said focus on the target.  Enjoy the new sight!  If you ever do have problems with it EO customer service will take great care of you, they have for me and many others.

The EOTech is supposed to be parrallax free after ~50yds. At 10-15, you're still going to have a little bit of it.

Just to expand, those dots are a property of laser illumination, and are called speckle.  If you look closely at the dot from a laser pointer,  you'll see the same effect.

I just got home from work and took a look at the parallax and it is nice and still beyond 50 yards, thanks.

As far as focusing on the target and not the dot that will take some getting used to, I have been trained to focus on the front sight not the target with with my handguns. I'm sure with some practice this will become second nature.

Thanks again for the help,
Knucklehead

Try looking at the target with both eyes open, and moving the rifle, with Eotech mounted, up into your line of sight, maintaining focus on the targe.
