Hello,

Just received my EOTech 557 today, had a couple of questions for those that may already have one:

1. Other models of EOTechs seem to have an 'F' on the case to designate the new revision electronics.  My sight does not have this marking, how do I tell if it has the latest guts?  The manufacture date is February 2008.

2. Looking at the bottom of the sight the finish is rubbed off along the mounting rail mating area (like it may have been mounted before). Is this expected for a new sight?

Thanks

Thought some of you may be interested in the responses I got from Eotech:

1.  Any sight manufactured in 2004 or later has the revision F.  Only
the 511, 512, and 552 will be marked as such.  This is to distinguish
between the revision F sights and sights made prior to 2004.  Any other
sights, such as the 553, 557, 516, 556, 555 were not introduced to the
market until after the revision was made, therefore there is no need for
the marking.

2.  We do several tests on our sights before we shipping them out.
They are placed on rails and go through a series of durability tests.
Then, it is placed on a rail to mechanically zero your sight.  Very
rarely, do they become scratched during these tests.  However, there is
always room for error.  If you would like to have it returned and
cleaned up, we would be more than happy to take care of you.
