I've been thinking of adding one of the micro type red dots to a variable power scope.  While I am using a Larue mount, I like the idea of being able to adjust the position of the dot as the Tactical Night Vision ring mount allows as seen here instead of the position of the Larue ring.

Has anybody tried this with a Larue mount?  Also looking for general opinions on this mount if anybody has used one.

I have seen several pics of what your looking for, I just can't seem to find them for some reason.

However, as long as you have enough of the scope tube exposed, you shouldn't have any issues using Vic's mini-rds mount.

Vic's SAR is the way to go  It can be mounted on any 30mm or 1 inch scope without the prerequisite mounts on top of which LaRue or ARMS red dot mount can be attached.  ARMS and LaRue red dot mounts are also fixed in orientation, Vic's SAR can be rotated to your preference.

The SAR is conveniently out of the way when no sight is attached, same goes for ARMS TRC.

Same setup with a Firepoint / JPoint / Optima 2000

Thanks for the info.  Duffy, that's exactly what I needed.

Now, the next question is which optic to go with, used Optima, Trijicon (seems a bit expensive), mini Aimpoint, J-Point, Burris?

Tacticalnightvision.com sells a nice mini reddot that the mount was made for , it's called an RDPII , I've heard good things about it but I dont have any experience with it personally.

How about an awesome picture of a similiar setup. This picture makes me smile everytime I look at it!!! It's owned by a guy on here named Edwin907

I have a Docter, JPoint, Firepoint, and Vic's RDPII, my favorite is the MIcro T1.  It's slightly more expensive than a Docter but far more versatile and robust.  I wouldn't use JPoint/Docter type red dot as a primary sight without some kind of wing mount to protect it, also the battery life isn't as good as the T1.  The T1 in some respect is better than the standard sized Aimpoints, small footprint, smaller window when viewed through an NOD, can be mounted as backup sights, etc.
