should the retention pin just come out once you release it. I wasnt really paying attention to it as i was playing with it before i put it on the rifle and managed to let the spring fall out, so now I'm wondering if i put it back in right...?

Ok so i contacted ARMS and they said that i should not be able to remove the pin which obviously means i have the spring in wrong. could someone post a picture of how the spring should look, looking at it from underneath the sight.

Thanks

Here's a pic of an arms 40L. I don't know if its the same as the regular 40.
Hope it helps. If this is even what your referring to. ( You can see the one
end of the spring held in place against the inner wall, the other end is held
inside the keyway of the piece that the spring is wrapped around)

Tyson,

thanks for that pic, I do have the 40L. does the spring enter the pin through the sloted side and come out the other side through the hole? If so i think thats why mine is falling out, my spring just barely enters into the sloted side.

If you haven't already got it straightened out, here's what I came up with. From what I can see, without taking the sight apart, is the end of the spring entering the keyway is only seated in the keyway itself. I can't see it coming back out any holes. The spring on mine just goes into the keyway till it cant go any farther. Your spring may have been overstretched somehow or bent at the end. Did ARMS offer you any remedies when you talked to them about it? Sounds like you might just need a new spring, if you can get one. Hope this helps.

No springs or pins should just fall out from that buis unless it's a factory defect or the user has fiddled with it. If you haven't messed with it then send it back for a replacement or repair. I'd want a replacement but that's me.
