I have been looking into getting an optical sight for my AR for a little while now. The ones I have been considering are the TA01NSN ACOG, Aimpoint COMPM2, Trijicon Reflex, and Eotech 552.A65/1.

If any of you have these scopes, I was hoping you could answer a few questions:

For the reflex types scopes (M2, Reflex, Eotech), what is the real expectation of maximum usable range? I am looking for up to @150 meters.

For the ACOG, how is the target acquisition in the 20-50 meter range? I like the ranged crosshairs of this model. I'm not sure how the range lines on the other (chevron dot style) ACOGs work.

Given the cost of these scopes, I would rather purchase only one of them for use from 20-150 meters.

Also, if you have an strong opinions about which of these sight is better/worse than others, please chime in.

Thanks.

Per your requirements Id go with the ACOG. The EOTech's and Aimpoints are good especially for CQB distances but arent nearly as well suited as the ACOG in distances over 100M.

An option you might consider is the TA01DOC which has a mini-red dot sight above the ACOG tube- best of both worlds.

I really like my Eotech 552 on my M4gery.  It shoots very accurately up close and it very quick on target.  However, I wouldn't want to use it much over 75-100 yards and that's why I have a BUIS on my rifle.

I also have a 20" Bushy Target Model (A4/flat-top receiver) and now I'm trying to figure out what optic to get to shoot at longer distances than CQB, but not be totally impeded by having a fixed front site.  As much as I like ACOGs, the price point is likely out of reach for this project.

I love my EOTech but it is a CQB optic.  I'd be hard pressed to use it out to 150 meters on anything much smaller than a man-sized target.

How small of a group do you want at your max range?  For self defense or SHTF a Aimpoint or Eotec for CQ with a magnifier for distance is hard to beat. The LaRue poorboy special gives you 2.5X at a bargin price. 3X Aimpoint or 3X/4X EoTech if money is not an issue.

Mainly I'm looking to hit center mass (@4-5MOA) of a man size target at 150m. I don't see myself using my AR (carbine) for distances much further than that. The aimpoint/eotech + magnifier combo is sounding pretty good.
