Does anyone have pictures of an AR with carry handle iron sights and an EOTech or Aimpoint on top or in front? THANKS

How do you like it way up there? Seems that most people use a gooseneck mount of some sort to mount optics on an A1 or A2 upper.

why do you mount your optic on top of the detachable carry handle?

it'd make more sense and save a lot of weight to ditch the carry handle and go with a proper mount.

am i missing something?

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with the "short" carry handle? Sorry to run off topic but I have personally seen one in my time that was short and did not fit the top rail like the other I have seen. It did not extend from end to end and left a front portion of rail exposed. This carry handle maybe mounted a little more to the rear (bad angle?) but it does look too short.

In the military the racks used in the armsroom lock at the front of the receiver. Having been designed for the A2, there isn't enough clearance for the retaining knob on the left side of the detachable carry handle to fit. The easiest fix is to move the detachable carrying handle one slot rearward when putting them away. Sometimes they don't get put back on correctly.

I've never seen one just a slot or two shorter than normal.

FWIW I'm building an A1 upper with an old school OEG on top. I'll post up pics whenever the project gets done.

I'm declaring this to be the next BRD fad:
'0.5-ESR' -1/2"-Enhanced Sight Radius- For those 'on-the-nose' shots!

Sorry, I may be an ass.

I had the carry handle in my hand. It was shorter than the upper rail. I checked twice.

Yes it is, but no it's not.  If you look at a fixed carry handle upper, the carry handle does not come straight to the charging handle cutout.  It actually stops forward of the charging handle.  Placing the detachable carry handle correctly on the upper, with the front of the carry handle flush to the front of the receiver produces the same step.  What is confusing, is that while on flattop uppers with DCH's, it becomes a well defined step, while fixed carry handle models have that area radiused in.

In short, the DCH is supposed to be slightly shorter than the top rail, however, it's the same length as a standard carry handle.

I didn't like it way up there, that was when I first got my AR, then I realized when its that far up you can't rest your cheek on ANYTHING, so you make absolutely terrible shots.  Now I just have a bare carry handle
