Is there a consensus among the group here regarding less expensive dot sights? I have heard of the S.P.O.T. and that there are some bushnell models also that are priced under $200. What is your experience? Also, what about the Tasco sights for under $100? Regards, Multi-Tool |

Best bet is to search out feedback on specific scopes and brands. Some, like the Spot, Burris, Bushnell, and 1337tactical lookalike, get good reviews from actual users, and will work fine for a range gun or paper punching. The name brands have better warranty support. Some brands, like Tasco, Leapers, NCStar, etc, get mostly bad reviews. Some people have good luck with them, but more don't. Avoid those brands, no matter how good the deal looks. If you don't care about it being "tactical", the original Ultradot 25 and 30 are great red dots - sturdy, accurate, reliable, and inexpensive. They're mainly target sights, frequently used by bullseye shooters, but they work fine on rifles too. The newer Ultradots, like the L/T and Pan AV, are Hakkos (I think), and have more mixed reviews. There's no need to spend $400 and up for a plinking optic. If you want to, that's great, and if you're going to depend on it for your or someone else's life, you want the good stuff, but otherwise, shoot what you can afford. |

I have had great luck with the C MORE Railway. It cowitnesses well with my YHM BUIS and standard FSB on a colt 20" mathc barrel. I really like the railway, since it is small and light. Wanted an ACOG, but the 500 dollar difference was hard to come up with. So far I have been very pleased with this sight. There are also many options for the DOT. Check out the website and you can see all the options. BIGFOOT |
