I just grabbed a NIB DPMS Panther Lite with 8 mags for $675

I'm happy!  Neat little bugger with old school looks/sights and pencil barrel at 5.7 lbs.

Still, I can't get away from the fact that red dots are so much quicker than open sights, that after I sight in on the opens, I want to add a decent SHTF optic.

Big issue is with the solid carrying handle...I want something small and light to go with the rifle, and am thinking of the latest Trijicon 8 MOA red dot.

However, I was curious to see what some of the other options were on your KISS Rifles...

aimpoint micro dot it may not exactly be Kiss but it will work well in the role you describe

How sturdy is it? Is it combat proven?

How about a compact ACOG? That will get you a bit of magnification with no batteries and very little weight. That's pretty simple.

I'm looking for something really 1x.  I'm also not a big fan of the ACOG's sighting...

I used to roll an aimpoint on the gooseneck mount...if this is something you are interested in, LMK. I still have the gooseneck and aimpoint mount...

I liked it, on the carbine set up, it seemed a little to foward heavy to me...

Also the Cmore style sights are very good, and light and fit nice and fit.

In fact, if I had to do the carry handle thing again and wanted to roll a red dot, I would get the cmore.
