I have 2 552 Eotech's and last week I went to the desert to shoot the M4 it was mounted on ,it wouldnt work . so I changed batterys an still no go . I'm sending it back to them (Eotech) monday for repair . The other still works but was bought 2 or 3 years ago at the same time. I wounder if the other one will soon dye also . I already learned my lesson with the N battery Eotech's and only use the AA versions now . has anyone else had reliabilty problems with Eotec's ? I may be a Aimpoint convert if the other dies . I realy want a M4 Aimpoint but $700.00 is a little hard to swallow . anyone have a trick or a sugestion on how to fix it without sending it back ? tryed 2 sets of good batterys with no luck . also on the Eotech site they have a upgrade to extend battery life on rev D units to rev F has any had it done , and what's the cost .

I have occasionally seen EoTech's develop problems with the contacts in the battery housing. It doesnt happen all the time, but enough to notice. Chances are your other EoTech will be fine, and I guarantee EoTech will fix the one you are having problems with. I'd get an Aimpoint anyway, just because I like variety!

A quick tip to try before you ship it back: Clean the battery contacts with a pencil eraser.

In every class we get a few EO's that will go down due to battery box issues. It aparently is not waterproof, and moisture causes corrosian.
We recommend that if you have one, get a hemostst. Remove the spring and stretch it. Clean all contact points.
Sometimes the nipple at the bottom of the battery box will get crushed- lok for that as well.
EOTech has a terrific customer service department- absolutely top shelf.

Unsure what Aimpoint you are looking for, but Larue Tactical has about the best prices you will ever see- and it comes with a larue Mount.
When you look at life cycle costs between an EOTech and Aimpoint, they are about equal in price.
Figure out what you want and run with it. Understand capabilities and limitations and work within those parameters.
