I feel kind of silly for just now thinking about this but does this sound logical and does anyone else do it... After looking through my manual on a NF scope that I've had well over a year I noticed that it stated that 1 mil = 3.6" @ 100 yards. Logic would tell me that similar to MOA, at 200 yards 1 mil = 7.2". At 300 yards 1 mil = 10.8" and so on. Knowing this and knowing how much your round is dropping at a given yardage why wouldn't you use the mildots as holdover points if they match up with the needed hold over? I'm not talking about for bench rest type shooting but minute of man or general plinking where close is good enough...any thoughts? |

If you know your MOA adjustments you can find your Mil Hold. Example we sill say it take 13MOA to get my rifle to have a center impact at 500yds. Now to get it in mils we take the 13moa X 1.047” = 13.61” X 0.254 = 3.45 or 3.5 mils.
