Looking to get some advise. Is the EoTech 511 a good choice for a carry handle mounted red dot sight? Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks

On the carry handle or in front of the carry handle.

The 512 uses AA's... preferably AA LITHIUMS.  Has about 7 or 8 times more battery life.

I mounted mine ontop and didnt like it.  It didnt give a good cheek weld.  I didnt like my Aimpoint either...but if I had to mount one or the other it would have been the EOTech simply because its easier to use when you dont have a good cheek weld.

Problem with mounting it in front like this....You cant use the BUIS.

If there's nothing wrong with it and for that price, I'd say get it! If you had to pay full price, I'd say skip it as the AA models are well worth the price difference. I own 2 511's and have no plans to get rid of them. That being said, I will never buy another one. AA's EoTecs are much, much better.

I don't care what the product specs say regarding battery life. Expect about 100 hours out of the N versions, 4-500 hours out of the AA's(800-850 out of of AA lithiums) Of course on NV setting, you can expect about 10X the numbers I listed above.

One more thing about the N versions. If you don't remove the battery compartment for 5 minutes after EVERY use OR remove the batteries OR put a piece of electrical tape on the battery contacts,(what I do) your batteries will be dead in 2-3 months. This is if you use the sight; or not.
