Give me any feedback you can on these scopes www.barska.com/ac10984.htm ![]() http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/cb.aspx?a=339227 |
Were you talking about the Barska above? |
Why didn't you guys tell me about this.![]() www.bushnell.com/general/riflescopes_trophy_73-0132P.cfm |
What, are we supposed to know everything? |
I'll second Ky_Bob's sentiments. If you want a low power variable (1x3) that'll work similarly to a red dot, try Weaver. well made scopes and their 1x3 at midway is a great price. As others have said, you get what you pay for with optics. The Barska I looked through wasn't as bad as the Famous Maker's I've seen, but it wasn't great. Image wasn't yellow-tinged (like the FM scopes |

I don't have a problem buying one of these for my son's future AR (he is only 9). Gone are the care free days of buying ACOGs, Nightforce, etc. Too many toys, not enough disposable money. |
I got tears in my eyes from laughing so hard |
Yes, it can be. My sole Barska experience was a pair of 20x50 binocs. They were not worth the $5 shipping. I figured they would be good enough for light range duty (ie., from protected range bag to bench to range bag). They fell apart on the first trip - literally had 2 frigging lenses fall out. Warranty service costs more than the binocs were worth, plus paying for shipping both ways. |

I have one of the Barska electro sights pictured. It is mounted on a FN PS-90 using the Acog adapter that one of the guys on the Fiveseven board sells. It works great. Battery life must be OK (I accidentally left it on for a week and it was still bright.) It is a 1x sight with crosshairs and holdover stadia that supposedly works for 200 and 300 yard 5.56 drop - but I would be surprised if it does. I don't know why the photo always shows the weird handle arrangement - as shipped it will mount directly to a carry handle, and there is a somewhat cheesy weaver adapter included with it. For my purposes I didn't need the included adapter as the PS90 acog adapter basically makes a AR-style carry handle mount point on top of the gun. Mine has held zero through about 200 rounds so far. I have owned 4 Barska products so far and only been disappointed in one (although I had to send another back for replacement.) And, I have higher-end optics (Trijicon, Leupold, Schmidt & Bender) so I can compare accurately. I am seriously considering ordering another Barska electro sight for a AR. I like the crosshairs instead of the dot because it helps to eliminate cant. |

Barska is definately not the best scope out there but from my experiance with them thus far they have been respectable. Ive been using thier 10-40x50 Tactical on my savage 10fp in .308, And its done a great job so far. the precision is surprisably well even on the highest power. My gun will shoot .5 inch groups all day with the right ammo and still hold zero. Granted its only a .308, I wouldnt put one on anything with more recoil even if the claim it is .50cal approved. It serves its purpose of weekend long range bench shooting and the high zoom makes it nice for varmint hunting. The only thing i dont like is the 45 MOA of elevation which isnt quite enough for 1000 yard stuff but im not good enough to shoot that far yet. But itl work till i get my nightforce nxs. Sorry i couldnt be much help with the scope you requested but i figured I would share my experience. |

I have the Barska on my RRA flat top, and so far it works well. I like the small cross hair vs the red dot on my Aimpoint. In addition you can use the 1/3n batteries from the Aimpoint, they last longer than the cheap batteries that come with the Barska sight. In regard to their use with BUIS, they are a little high. I have an ARMS 40A and with the Barske I get a low lower 1/3 sight picture. While the Barska sight seems to work well and is made fairly well it is a $98 red dot (red cross hair) sight and I dont think I would use it for professional use, but then again thats why they make BUIS. It's pointless to poke fun at an optic because of the way it's depicted. It may interest you to know that carry handle scope mounts are still sold every day. They used to sell (maybe still do) a cheekpiece for these mounts. In fact, The U.S. military once employed carry handle-mounted scopes before the flattop receiver came around. |
Thank you for the objective review. (no pun intended) I have one of these on the way and will post my findings. I like finding cheap stuff that works. |
