The scope I have now is 3-9 power. I was thinking of a aimpoint or something else but until I can afford a good one this is what i'm working with. So do you think if I stick with my current rings on the scope and drop it to the top rail it won't be too low?? or do you think I need higher rings??

The rings Height you need for mounting to a Flat top is 1.375” to 1.5”. You will most likely not really see the front post especially at 9x. | I am looking at my front post through a 3-9. In three days of pdog hunting, I don't think I ever saw it once. You should be okay. A lot of people, me included use a riser to mount the scope and then the rings. I use that on the pdog gun and high rings on my flat top Colt. |

The best thing to do is mount it and see what happens. If you need to get it higher you can get new rings or a flat top riser. The height of the rings looks like they may work. Ok, this is my situation, I dropped the carry handle, and have it mounted directly on the rail using the same rings, no problem on the front site can't see it at all. I'm a little low though. I'm thinking maybe a 1/2" flat top riser, as I think 3/4" would be too much, as I look though at a comfortable position, I have to look down litterally to see clearly through the scope. would 1/2" be about right?? Anywhere have a good deal on one of these risers?? Nothing fancy just something to do the job. |

Nothing fancy you said , 6th one down www.bushmaster.com/catalog_parts_sights_scopes_p2.asp |

11BDAD, I'm looking at a riser just like the one on yours, yours is yankee hill right?? I'm thinking this would be perfect, and wouldn't look to bad. Mine would be mounted further back, as my scope is shorter than the one in your pic. I believe it would also help in the clearence between my scope and charging handle too. Your riser only adds 1/2" right?? BTW, anyone know of a place that has one for a good buy??? |
|
JNK556, It's the 5" rail, which in my thinking it adds a whole lot of flexibility. You can move it forwards or backwards. To remove it you have to remove your buis, as it slides all the way off the back. You are correct in that it adds 1/2". I put it on a grinder to remove some mass in order to move if forward and back to find the most comfortable place to park it. $39 plus shipping. Not a bad deal. The MaTech was just too high to fit with the Armalite mount. Yes it is a Yankee Hiil riser. |
