I just purchased a RRA Coyote AR and am in need of mounting ideas fo my Bushnell Elite 4200 Tactical Scope. I have posted this numerous other places and am getting so many mixed responses, Here is the rifle, http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/pixeldoctor/coy07.gif Now I know that I should have 1.5" to the center of the eye piece, but what I would like to know is if I need to cant the scope forward of if I just use rings on the flattop base will it be enough. I have been looking at the larue spr/m4 1.5 (is this the right one for my ar) but the price is, wow! Now, I am not doubting the quality of the base, just if I need to spend that much just to attach my scope (and where is the best place to purchase a Larue Base?). Keep in mind that this rifle is just going to be used to kill critters and a possible 6 or 7 hundred yard shot. Thanks, Jeff Oh, and what are your thoughts/experiences with the A.R.M.S. rings? http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/pixeldoctor/22MEDIUM.gif |

It would be my personal opinion that for a SCOPE mount, I like the LaRue SPR series mounts. There are many reputable retailers available on this site that are authorized LaRue dealers. (Beware some "China fakes" have hit the US market). You can always order directly from LaRue (and get some freebies). |
The wrench is used to adjust the throw levers, read the instructions that came with the mount. |
ARMS are very nice but for that scope I recommend get a mount has a cantilever. I like the LaRue and GG&G make a great mount also. ![]() Mike @ CSGW www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks What do YOU have to say about CS GunWorks What Do You Think Of Cs Gunworks? are you planning on taking the scope on and off? if yes then by all means but a LaRue mount b/c there is none better IMO. if the answer is no then there is no need to get a scope mount that has throw levers b/c you're not going to take it off. now i'm not saying don't buy a LaRue mount (i have 2) just stating that a solid one piece mount such as an armalite or similar might be a better choice for application. |

Check out Leupold's QRWs. I just got a set and they are great. They don't detach as quick as throw lever mounts but they do release without using tools. If you are not too worried about super quick scope removal they are a good option. If you look hard you can find them for about $70-80 for the pair. |
+1 The LaRue mounts are the best there is but you may not need one. If you don't intend to remove the scope then you won't get any benefit from the throw levers or the return to zero of a LaRue mount. |

Thanks, I decided that the best option for me would be to go with the one piece LaRue mount http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j88/pixeldoctor/spr_1_big.jpg I was wondering if there were any secrets to mounting the scope correctly. No big deal, I will figure it out on my own. |
Dont be sorry, it was a vaid question. I mentioned the supplied instructions because most folks overlook them, just as you did. No worries. Also, mounting the scope and mount is a pretty straight forward install. Try not to over think it. |

I just ordered and received that exact same mount and all I can say is WOW! It returns to zero flawlessly. The height is perfect. I keep mine pretty tight. Its harder to get it off than on. You will need to tighten or loosen the nut on top until you can close the lever, but still have it tight. Getting it open is another matter! Both of my Larue mounts re zero perfectly. I have a third on the way for my Eotech. You just skipped the cheap stuff and bought the best right away. I have the Armalite mount for my Predator Pursuit and its a heck of alot cheaper ($60) as it has the knobs instead of the throw levers. I haven't even tried to take it off so I cannot say that it will rezero properly. It works for my Ground Hog gun that will never get used with other sights. |
