| I'm about to buy my first AR - most likely a Stag 2T and will be installing an EOTech sight. My question is, will I need to add an after-market iron sight to be used if the EOTech malfunctions and what hardware should I use to mount the EOTech in order to use iron sights in the event of failure? TIA. |
Honestly, I don't know what I want. This will be my first AR and a general purpose gun used mostly for play and rabbits. I also want it to function as my SHTF gun until I can get a more specialized weapon for that detail. What would you fellas recommend? |

Strongly suggest absolute cowitness. Both are very doable, but absolute cowitness is more of a natural reflex, much like centering the blade of the front sight in a rear aperture. Absolute cowitness will have your sight alignment in the center of the Eotech window, lower 1/3 will be in the lower 1/3 of the window. I figure you already figured that out, but might as well throw it out just in case. When you mount the Eotech on the rail, put the cross bolt in the slot where you want it, push it forward, and tighten it down good. This helps lock it in place. As for the BIS, or BUIS as most call it, this is the one on my M4gery. It works well, is reliable, and is all around what I want. www.gggaz.com/index.php?id=36&parents=38,40 Hope some of this helps. |
