All:

Is it just normal for an EOtech 552 to fall off after a dozen mags through an AR?  It sits on a Larue ECOS mount and it has never even THOUGHT of coming loose.  But the EOTech fell off the other day and it really pissed me off.

Do ACOG's fall off?  I had an Aimpoint that never even got loose after 1000 rounds.

anything that screws onto my AR gets loctited.  No ifs, ands or buts.  I'd recommend you do the same.  Blue.

If you use the thumb screw I find that it will jar loose.  However some locktite with the supplied allen key head screw will hold better.  Put mine through the paces today no problem even without the locktite.

Mine has been on my AR for a few years and many rounds.  A little drop of Blue loktite will work well.

And if none of the other suggestions help, try loctite.

Wouldn't be the first EO I've heard falling off.

+1 on the loctite with the allenhead bolt. Hopefully that will do the trick. Ive never had mine fall off although the hardest day at the range its seen is about 500 rnds.

Been there, done that -- what worked for me was a replacement screw from Yankee Hill Machine Co. -- www.yankeehillmachine.com/store/misc.html

YHM-9553

I put them on all of my EoTechs and have never had one come off accidentally again (even without loctite.)

anytime a put a new toy on my rifle, I make sure I re-tighten it every couple hundred rounds the first time I take it to the range.
It sort of lets the mount "settle" into place with the recoil.

Yes they do loosen up after awhile, I don't use locktite (blue). I finger tight before shooting and maybe once or twice during. That's only because I take the sight off when I do a thorough cleaning.

If you keep fingering it, it will become loose again.

the thumbscrew does loosen up. I'm taking it off this afternoon and going back to the hex screw. a Larue mount is in the plans as well since I like being able to take it off for cleaning without losing zero

You can also use loctite on the thumbscrew.  I did this on my Larue mount and it stays put.

Loctite. If you want to take it off, swing the lever, and take it all off. It returns to zero

I used the knurled screw, tightened IAW the EOTech instructions and never had my EOTech loosen up. The knurled screw should have fiber locking washer under the head to prevent the screw from loosening.
