I am seriously considering the purchase of a Trijicon ACOG for my 6.8 SPC flattop upper, I know they are a lot of money, are they worth the price? Would the .308 calibrated model be more suitable to the trajectory of the 6.8?

After some research I have tentatively decided on a 3.5 X 35 TA11F, (. 223 reticle) any comments?

I like the Bindon aiming concept and "no batteries" operation. I was considering the non- military type Trijicon, but I don't like the reticles lack of ranging ability.

My use for this optic would be longer range target shooting, predator hunting and closer range deer hunting.

I would like to hear all comments from those experienced with these scopes, good, bad or otherwise. Thanks very much.

ACOG's are definately worth the price of admission!  I have a TA31RCO-M4 on one of my 14.5" AR's and love it!  Several guys in my squad used TA01NSN's and they worked very well.  These things are built like tanks and very reliable!

I just purchased a TA33-8.

It is smaller and cheaper than a TA31 and has longer eye relief. You do give up a little magnification (4X vs 3X), but I think that the other benefits outweigh that.

I have a TA31F (4x, chevron, 5.56 drop reticle) on a LaRue mount. LOVE IT. As bright and clear as a Leupold. The chevron is fast to acquire, yet precise.

Why the 11 over the 31? It weighs more with less magnification, only slightly more eye relief.

I have both the TA31 and the TA11. The eye relief difference is significant. I use the TA11 on my 308 (AR10).  It's calibrated for .223, but for the ranges I use it at, thats not an issue.

just got a NIB TA01NSN off eBay for $750 shipped.... happy as a clam right now, looks and works great. Switching it between my 20" DMR and my 16" tac carbine. At first the price was something to get over, but once I had it on my rifle... cost was no object. Can't wait to get a TA31RCO!

I have three ACOGs.

TA01: Good eye relief, reticle is too busy for anything under 200M IMO. I would not buy another.

TA31: Horrible eye relief. i get smacked in the glassess at least once every time in use it. Fast reticle for close range, but not very precise for longer ranges.

TA47: Great eye relief. Very fast triangle reticle. tip of triangle give good aiming point for longer ranges. smallest and least expensive of the bunch. Its my favorite of the 3. Completely happy with it.

I have the TA31a on my AR and it's the cats meow.  Well worth the price.  For what you desribe, it would be a great choice.

The TA33 gives you all that the TA47 does, but with 3x magnification instead of 2x, plus a BDC reticle.

It is the TITS!

I decided on the TA-33-8 (for my AR-15 flat rail) after speaking with a company rep. and telling him what I wanted to use it for - close up to 400 yds. The 3X gives you quicker target acquisition up close but enough mag. for longer shots. I have not seen it yet to mount but it's on its way. You might give Jim Clark a call at Trijicon.

I'm considering one but the price is turning me off. My TA01 was $550.00, TA31 $737.00 & TA47 $525.00. But prices have skyrocketed since the wars started.

I just got an ACOG and it is definantly worth the money! The clarity is amazing and its a solid optic.

IIRC if you use on calibrated for .308 you'll be on till the 6.8 peters out at about 400m

It is small. Trijicon categorizes it with the Compact ACOGs, but its performance is closer to the standard ACOGS than the other Compact models.

Okay...I had assumed it was the same size as the others...as riflescopes.com hasit listed with them and I have never seen a picture of it mounted.  Anyone got a picture of it mounted or can direct me to one in another thread?  (There is a lot of stuff for me to search.

I bought a TA-31F, great scope only one problem. I wear perscription glasses, not enough eye relief. So i sold it and going to try TA-11F and i think that will do.

I have ordered a TA-33 but the feedback from actual users is rather small. It is a fairly new sight and after research I decided on it. Do you own/use one or know someone who can give firsthand feedback? After spending $800 I'm still trying to justify my decision pending actually using it. More input on this scope would be much appreciated by actual users.

I don't have another ACOG to compare it to, but I like mine.

I looked closely at the EOTech but decided I wanted the minimal 3X. Do you find you can shoot fairly quickly at close range and use the 3X for over 200 yds.? Did you mount a light and if so what kind and is adequate? thanx

I don't have a 200 yard range, but I think that the magnification will be plenty for man sized targets at 200.

I do not have a light on that rifle. I have a light and EOTech on my home defense carbine.

Thanks for all the good info!

I have to wear eyeglasses (nearsighted), that is one reason I was considering the TA11. Long eye relief seems to work better for me in my conventional scopes.

I will do more research and give some other options a thought.

I will also call Jim Clark at Trijicon and get his reccomendation.

From all the responses, I am getting the feeling that Trijicon has great products!

I will be using this scope primarily for coyote, and sometimes in low light conditions (moonlight at -20 in midwinter on frozen lakes)

The above statement is incorrect, the TA01 and TA31 have the same eye relief - 1.5" and this is the same for all 4x ACOG's.

I have a TA31 and have shot the TA11, TA26 and TA47.  All are great scope but the TA31 does have the least amount of eye relief.  Not an issue for me but for a CQB carbine I would prefer a 1.5x or 2x compact ACOG.
