Ok, I have an AR with the A-1 upper.  I'm starting to have a coyote problem but they only show up at night.  If I start to hunt these pests, I can't use my sights as I can't see them.  What kind of sights do people use to hunt in total darkness?  I'm looking for something I can get on target very quickly.  In fact, I have this same problem with smaller varmints.  I use a 22 pistol to put them away, but I've missed several times because I can't see the sights.  So what is a good sight to hunt at night?

Aimpoint and a Surefire work for me.

Wow, those are expensive.  I was hoping a cheap dot sight would be sufficient.  I just don't how good any of them would be at night.

My experience has been that with night sights on an AR or even a pistol it allows you to see the sights but not necessarily what you're trying to shoot.  I suppose if there is enough light to make out the target then night sights would work for you well enough.
