I ordered a SPOT Mark III today and I'm curious what kind of experience any of you may have had with it. I'm looking for comments on a SPOT only please. I'm new here but in searching the site I find more comments that say "you shoulda bought <insert uber expensive item here>" than anything else. I havent any desire to buy a four or five hundred dollar scope, I just target shoot and play around. I did a search for SPOT but didnt turn anything up so I'm sorry if this is a revisted topic, I did search first.having Thanks, Shane |

It's not a bad optic for the price. I put one on my wifes rifle. It's been dropped on the concrete and in mud. Still holds zero. Battery life is pretty good also. 1 bat per year so far. Hers came with a cantilever mount and IIRC a 3MOA dot. For a range and farm optic you just cant beat the price. |

I was sort of conflicted about getting one at first. I decided to get one and I have been very happy with it. I used it on a RRA 9mm and it has served me very well. The 3 moa dot is perfect for 100m and less shooting. It is bright enough to use in the broad daylight and works fine even when the sun is almost shinning directly into the site. It has been very accurate and does not loose zero at all. The adjustments are postive and precise enough for me. The glass does have a bluish tint to it. Not enough to bug me while outdoors. Indoor in low light it is a little bothersome but I did not want to spend $300+ on an optic just to not have a bluish tint to my glass. Yes the $300+ optics are built tough and all that but for range time and general plinking the SPOTIII is perfect. The SPOTIII falls perfectly between the cheap POS red dots and the high dollar professional grade sites. Feel confident in your purchase and enjoy it. |
| I just ordered one and I liked it for the price. But after one week of use my reticle became bigger and looks like a starburst. It now has a non-round shape...more noticeable in darker conditions. Not as noticeable when co-witnessed with the BUIS. customer service of the place i ordered it from is trying to help me out with this problem. |
embarrassed I have a SPOT, a FACOG setup with a JPoint on top, an Aimpoint and a Eotech. The SPOT is a great red dot. Mike |

| I use the hell out of mine and it does a fine job. As far as shooting goes I prefer it to my Aimpoint. Only drawback is the battery life. I feel safe in saying that for 95% of the folks here the SPOT it is all you need if you use a BUIS with it. The last time I tried to find one they were sold out. Of course that was a good excuse to get the Aimpoint! I notice a used SPOT goes as fast as any other used red dot on the EE too. |
