Is it any good?  I'm thinking of getting it but the design looks a little cheesy.  Opinions?

Works just fine if you are looking for a riser mount without QD capability.

It works,but LaRue is better.

Maybe try the RRA version.  You can get it at Eagle Arms for cheaper than from RRA.

The LaRue isn't any better at mounting an EOTech, it just has QD capability (and a place for NOD mounting).  If the OP isn't looking for QD, he would be fine with the YHM.

Never could get mine to stay zeroed - YMH even sent out a new one to try.  The RRA dominator has been rock solid (if you like fixed rear sights).  If you do not want fixed rear sight - spend teh extra and get a larue.  Like the Dom2 now - I can move my eotech up further.

They are a pretty inexpensive riser (under $35) that works very well.  As already posted, its not a great setup for a Quick Disconnect, but if you aren't going to be pulling it on and off, it works fine.

I've used them a couple times, but I prefer the Eotech mounted without a riser.  I know other guys running them, with none having any issues.  As far as it looking cheesy, I think all Eotechs look cheesy mounted up high (including the 553), but that doesn't change that some people like it better that way.  I wouldn't base anything on looks, go with functionality, and what works for you.

That's good advice - but remember you are on arfcom.

I like it with no riser - but like current set-up a little more.

Here's what the dom2 with the eotech in the far forward position.  Pics with my dom2.

When I said it looked cheesy I meant that it didn't look very sturdy.  I could care less how it "Looks" on the top of the rifle.  I have never used an EoTech without flip up sights so I'm not used to the clutter of the same plane sights and the EoTech reticle.  I've been messing around with it and it's growing on me.  I'm seriously thinking about sending the LMT sight back and getting that RRA mount.  That setup looks like the dogs danglies!

It is a personal preference - but I prefer it this way.

And thanks - I guess saying my RAR dom set-up looks like dog balls is a complement...

Just sent mine back to YHM.  Didn't work at all (would shift POA with a good shove,
despite torquing to their settings).  They charged me the restocking fee anyway, plus
I'm out shipping x 2 ways.  Waste of time and money, FWIW.  Not likely to
recommend YHM to anyone either, given how many very very other good vendors
there are in the AR-15 and M-14 world.  Spend the difference on a LaRue or
another DM mount (DM = "doesn't move" ).

Sorry about that.  While I cannot speak bad enough of the mount.  All my dealings with YHM have been great.  They make good products - but you get what you pay for.

I had one, and it moved all over the place.  You could just push on the side, and it would move (tried it on two uppers - one a Colt).  I tried tightening it more, and it broke.  Sent YHM an e-mail, never heard back.  Luckily, this particular lesson didn't cost me much to learn.  I would never recommend the YHM riser to anyone.

I have one, don't really care for it.  it's not very sturdy, even after I made sure all the mounting screws were very tight.  Almost made me think that my rail was out of spec or something, but the EOtech mounted to the rail without the riser was very sturdy.  I wouldn't purchase it again.
