I remember there being a thread about vision probs and the eotech.  Can anyone point me there?  I tried searching everything I can but am empty.

I had an EOTech 552 that I sold because the dot was a huge red blob - so I am interested in ordering either the Aimpoint M3 or the new Larue Jdot but don't want to waste money if they will be the same blob.

Anyone with experience and feedback?

If you have an astigmatism which results in the EOTechs dot blurring,  you may run into the same problem with the Aimpoint.

Your best bet before making such a large purchase would be to find an Aimpoint to look through. Either an Aimpoint at a local shop, or possibly the Aimpoint from someone in your hometown forum.

Cool...I'll have to try and find someone near me with one.

I've scoured the two gunshops within 50 miles of my boondocks location and they won't let me look without buying.

That sounds like BS, and a shop that doesn’t deserve your hard earned money.

When you used an Eotech you must focus on the target not the reticle.

If you focus on the reticle it will appear very blurry.  When you change your focus to a distant object the reticle will become clear.

Having the brightness set to high can make it seem blurry too.

If U were glasses like me and have a astigmatism, like me. The EoTech will be like a starburst. When U drive at night it is the same thing when U look into oncomming cars and street lights. the Aimpoints and other tubed redots do not have a effect.

I have an astigmatism in both eyes and I had to sell my EOTech because the reticle was just a giant blob no matter what setting it was on and I did not focus on the reticle but on the target instead.  No mattew what I did I could not use the EOTech and I do shoot with my prescription glasses.

I now have a 2moa Aimpoint (ML3) and a 4moa Aimpoint (ML2) and both have perfectly crear dots.  I also have the new LaRue IronDot on order so I can tell you how that work with an astigmatism as soon as it comes in.

I am extremely nearsighted and have astigmatism (corrected in the lenses). The EOTech works fine for me.

If you have mild astigmatism, an Eotech will look like the Eye of Sauron without glasses, but will look correct with glasses.  The Aimpoint looks OK without glasses, but better with.

Why not get a pair?  Eye protection is good to have anyway.

Sweet!  I'm gonna give the Larue mount with Aimpoint a try.  Heck, I just gave someone a good deal on the EOTech 552 I had that turned out to be a big blob of red, so if I get the Aimpoint, I'll just sell the thing again.

MadDog: I sent you an IM regarding info on 2MOA vs. 4MOA, since you and I seem to have almost the exact same eye prob.
